WIFE, CHILDREN, SISTER, NEPHEW AND PARENTS OF MARKET STREET'S POPULAR STORE DIRECTOR INVOLVED IN TRAGIC AUTO ACCIDENT

Alan Barron

The mother and father of Market Street's popular Store Manager Alan Barron were both killed in a tragic auto accident in Ropesville, Texas on Tuesday.  Also in the vehicle were Barron's wife, and two children, his sister and a nephew.

Lubbock newspapers reported that Alan Barron's father, Lawrence Barron, 68, of Lubbock died Tuesday night from injuries suffered hours earlier in the accident outside of Ropesville on U.S. 62/82.  His mother, Patsy Barron died at the scene of the accident that occurred around 4 p.m.  She was not wearing a safety belt according to reports from the Department of Public Safety.

Alan had flown back earlier to return to work in Colleyville.

The accident involved a Suburban driven by the sister of Alan Barron, Debra Campbell in Ropesville (indicated by star on above), near Lubbock, Texas.
DPS Officers stated that Debra Campbell said she fell asleep at the wheel and woke up when the vehicle went off the road, then she over-corrected causing the Suburban to flip over two times.

Lawrence Barron was flown by helicopter to a Lubbock hospital and was pronounced dead at 7:32 pm.

Alan Barron's mother and father were two of the five passengers in a Chevrolet Suburban driven by 44-year old Debra Campbell of Lubbock.  Also in the Suburban were Alan's wife, Denise Barron, 36 and his two children, Braxton Barron - 5 and Natalie Barron -2. All three were taken to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock and listed in satisfactory condition.  LNO has learned that all three are expected to be released today.

Also in the vehicle was Zachary Campbell - 18, the son of Debra Campbell and Alan Barron's nephew.  He was seriously injured and has already undergone surgery.  Initial reports indicated that Zachary Campbell may have had some paralysis but his condition appears to be improving.

According to DPS officials, the Suburban veered off the highway, the driver then over-corrected, steering the car back onto the roadway.  The vehicle spun 180 degrees then rolled over twice and finally landed on the driver's side.  The driver, Debra Campbell, told troopers she fell asleep at the wheel and awoke when the vehicle left the highway.

Funeral services from Mr. and Mrs. Barron are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at the Southcrest Baptist Church, 3801 South Loop 289 in Lubbock.  Rest Haven Funeral Home in Lubbock are in charge of arrangements.
