December 31, 2004 COLLEYVILLE CRIME AND ARRESTS This clever fellow decided to use Tom Thumb bags to heist Market Street items..they'll never notice? 12/23/04 Shoplifter reported at Market Street, 5605 Colleyville Blvd. Employees watched a man who must have thought himself a diabolically clever thief. Vijay Malik, 56, was observed stuffing merchandise into his pockets, as well as expensive lotions, lip gloss, and cologne into Tom Thumb Grocery bags. Officer Ron McFadden cited Malik, who lists a Southlake address, for Theft-between $50 and $500. 12/25/04 Burglary of the Walgreens at 3830 Glade Road, on Christmas night. Two rock heaving thugs broke out the window of the Drug Store, and in a "smash and grab" robbery, took 92 cartons of cigarettes, worth $3000. The alarm had gone off and there was a video tape of the thieves at work. Detective Hillary Wreay is investigating. 12/22/04 Criminal Mischief at 3205 Eaton Circle. The residence and mailbox were egged by unknown person(s). 12/20/04 Attempted Theft at Albertsons Grocery, 4000 Glade Road. Merchandise worth $571.45, was abandoned by a suspect who fled before police arrived. 12/15/04 Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, Forced Entry, at La Hacienda Ranch Restaurant, 5250 Highway 121 South. The lock was smashed on the vehicle. Taken was a briefcase and a black leather ladies purse, with credit cards, family social security cards, and Texas Drivers License, owned by a Richland Hills resident. Hours later, the purse was recovered from a dumpster in Fort Worth. Charged at 4:08 PM on 12/29/04 by Officer Cheryl Ingalsbe. Wirtz, of 3804 Bedford Court, had just been released from jail, and went straight to the grocery store to unsuccessfully shoplift beer. Has not been released as of time of this report. HECTOR GARCIA, Irving PD, two outstanding undisclosed warrants. Charged by Officer Douglas Huseman at 1:03 AM on 12/29/04. Released per Irving PD, with Court Date, at 3:30 PM on 12/29/04. ORIE LANE BREWER, Colleyville PD-Theft Under $50. Charged by Officer Kevin Maddux at 9:58 AM on 12/27/04.
