Colleyville, Texas will be 50 years old in 2006! To commemorate this, the Colleyville History Book Committee, a subcommittee of the Colleyville Historical Preservation Committee, is publishing a special hardcover history book called, “Colleyville: Then and Now”. Along with recollections from the past, this publication will record happenings of the present, and will include sections such as early Colleyville, businesses, organizations, places of worship, and family histories of current and past Colleyville residents.

After a careful study of reputable companies, the Book Committee is pleased to announce the selection of the Walsworth Publishing Company for the printing and binding of the book. In addition, the committee has decided to work with Neal Kimmel of NK Associates on the preparation of the book for publication, which will include typesetting and design. Plans are to have the book available for distribution in July 2006.

Orders for the Colleyville history book are now being taken. The price is $67.50 plus $5.57 tax for each book that will be picked up, for a total of $73.07. Home delivery is available at an additional cost of $7.00 for the first book and $4.00 for each additional copy. The first 100 books ordered will be limited editions that will be numbered and affixed with a special Colleyville 50th Birthday Seal. Order forms and more information are available at http://colleyvillebook.org.

Family histories are an important part of our history since they relate the story of when and why a family moved to Colleyville and tell of their accomplishments, traditions, and contributions to the community. Every family has a story to tell and residents of Colleyville are invited to submit these stories and be included at no cost in this important book. Your family history should be written in the third person (he, she, and they) and be no longer than 500 words. Please include a family photo with identifying information along with your history and email in Microsoft Word to colleyvillebook@flash.net. Or if you cannot send electronically, mail a typed version to Colleyville Book, 401 Shelton Dr., Colleyville, TX 76034. Please let us know if you want your photo returned.
