Fifteen 7th grade boys worked in the clothes closet and food pantry at
Mission Arlington. Half of the 7th grade girls were teacher's aides at
Meadow Creek Elementary School in Bedford, and the second group served at
First Baptist Church of Grapevine where they helped with the relief efforts
from Katrina and Rita. This church was a shelter, and the items used during
the relief needed to be cleaned and returned to storage.

Students also worked vigorously outdoors at their service locations. The
seniors worked hard at Christ's Haven for Children in Keller, and the tenth
grade boys assisted Open Arms, a battered women's shelter, with much needed
repair and yard work.
Grapevine's G.R.A.C.E. welcomed over 20 students to work at the Donation
Station, and a dozen girls crafted a quilt at Mission Makeover. |
Other
students re-stocked food pantries and clothes closets after depletion
resulting from the evacuees in the area at the Tarrant Area Food Bank and
the Community Enrichment Center.
The remaining groups served diligently at Cornerstone Community Center,
Diamond Hill after school program, Camp Fire USA, and serving the elderly at
Hearthstone Assisted Living. The day was a blessing for the student
volunteers and those that they served. The places of service were very
grateful and appreciative of the efforts of all of the young people. If
your organization or ministry needs student volunteers, contact
Sherril
Frank, Community Service Coordinator.
