GCISD Board Responds by John Eubanks

Concerning
Mr. Lieber's column and the resolution passed by the GCISD
board on September 22, 2003, I do not feel compelled to
defend nor apologize for my participation in that action.
Our stand was simply to speak out against those who feel a
necessity to continuously call into question, without fact
or basis, the competence and integrity of our
superintendent and his staff under the noble heading
of just doing what a trustee should do. This
practice will undermine a very high performing school
district if allowed to continue.
Mr. Lieber fancies himself as our community
conscience and apparently he now has some disciples.
Even so, I stand for what is right for our community and
will continue to show confidence, trust and respect to our
school district leaders and their attempts to dedicate
their time to the education of our children until their
performance and behavior suggests that I do otherwise.
Apparently, Mr. Lieber does not see that those of us that
voted for this resolution have any stewardship
responsibilities concerning how our resources are spent.
His solution is take care of it on election day and we
know who he supports.
For those who really care, I will continue to follow this
approach until I choose to remove myself from this role.
I appreciate the support given to me and most importantly
to our school district. Our citizens are shouldering
a huge tax burden because of "Robin Hood" and I
commend the superintendent and his staff for their efforts
to stretch the money as far as they can. All the
while, the district is performing very well academically
as well as financially.
John T. Eubanks
Sincerely,
Freda
