WHEREAS,
we believe that one or more members of the Board of
Trustees of the Grapevine-Colleyville
Independent School District have initiated discussions and
made comments during Board meetings that call into
question the integrity and ability of District’s
Administration and Staff; and
WHEREAS,
we regret that these discussions have taken place and that
these comments have been made, and we believe that they
were thoughtless, inappropriate and that they do not
reflect the opinion of a majority of this Board; and
WHEREAS,
we believe that one member of the Board has repeatedly
made demands for information from the Administration, the
substance of which are neither necessary nor useful in
carrying out the governance role of this Board or in
furtherance of the purposes of this District; and
WHEREAS,
we believe that these demands for information have also
had the effect of calling into question the integrity and
ability of the District’s Administration and Staff; and
WHEREAS,
we believe that the valuable time and money necessarily
spent by the Administration responding to these constant
demands for information significantly reduces their time
and the District’s money that could and should be spent
on the education of the children of this District; and
WHEREAS,
we are concerned that because the full Board has failed to
take action in response to these actions of individual
members, the Administration and Staff may not feel that
this Board has confidence in them; and
WHEREAS,
we believe that this District’s Administration has
demonstrated exceptional educational leadership, budget
management and fiscal integrity, and that the District’s
Staff has demonstrated exceptional teaching ability and
dedication to the students of this District, all as
evidenced by the District’s sound financial status, the
numerous awards staff members have received, and by the
impressive accomplishments of this District’s students;
NOW,
THEREFORE, we the undersigned members of the
Grapevine-Colleyville
Independent
School District Board of Trustees adopt the following
resolutions:
RESOLVED,
that we hereby commend the Superintendent, the
Administration and the Staff of Grapevine-Colleyville
Independent School District for their dedication and hard
work on behalf of this District and it students, and we
hereby offer our strong support for their continued
efforts.
RESOLVED
FURTHER, that we hereby apologize for any statements
made or discussions initiated by members of this Board
that called into question the ability or integrity of
these valuable employees.
RESOLVED
FURTHER, that we hereby express our regret that the
District’s Administration and Staff have been forced to
spend their time and the District’s money responding to
these unproductive demands; and
RESOLVED
FURTHER, that we will seek to prevent this type of
Board member conduct from being repeated in the future.
