GC Education Foundation Campaign Kick-off Breakfast

More than $70,000 in lead gifts will be announced at the GC Education Foundation’s fifth annual fund campaign kick-off breakfast, Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Colleyville Heritage High School. The Foundation is now beginning its annual fund-raising effort for 2003-2004 and has set a goal of $130,000 through contributions and events. This investment in the future contributes toward additional innovative programs and ideas initiated by GCISD teaching staff.

GC Education Foundation Executive Director Gina Friedman said, “Community support is critical to maintaining high academic standards for our students. Community members are encouraged to give to the Foundation during the annual campaign.”
Lead donors for this year’s drive include

  • $19,098 raised from GCISD employees,
  • a $10,000 endowment from Fickes Dorety Development/SLJ Company,
  • $10,000 from Cary and Laurie Turner for the Colleyville Heritage High School Endowment,
  • $7,500 from the Star-Telegram,
  • $6,500 from Perdue, Brandon. Fielder, Collins & Mott, LLP.,
  • $2,500 from Bracket & Ellis, Attorneys at Law,
  • $5,000 from Marvin and Gerry Hairgrove,
  • $2,500 from Bank of the West,
  • $2,500 from Cecilia Box, and
  • a combined gift of $4,050 from the PTAs.

GC Education Foundation President Mark Howe said, “In the state's conservative economy, most Texas school districts no longer have discretionary funds for services and activities that exceed minimum needs and requirements. Consequently, the role of the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation is more important than before, with private dollars necessary to continue to provide quality education for our children.”

The non-profit 501(c)3 Foundation was formed in 1998 to receive tax-exempt donations to enrich offerings in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. In just five years, the Foundation has funded 133 projects, distributing more than $305,000 to GCISD, affecting more than half the teachers and nearly all the children. Teachers who have received this funding initiated programs to benefit GCISD children, have expanded their knowledge and resources and even provided materials for students to use with their parents at home. In addition, the Foundation has set aside $300,000 for an endowment fund that will generate a perpetual source of funds through interest revenue.

The Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation will accept gifts of cash, checks, property, insurance and will bequests, as well as in-kind products and services. All donations are tax-deductible. Donations may be sent to the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation, P.O. Box 292, Grapevine, TX 76099.
