Summer
school and enrichment programs scheduled
Summer
school programs will be offered to elementary and secondary
school students beginning June 2, with registration for both
starting in April.
"Explore
and Discover Summer" for elementary students
will provide a wide variety of enrichment classes for
students in grades K-5. Classes will be held at Cross
Timbers Middle and the staff consists of certified teachers
and teaching assistants. All summer enrichment classes meet
for three hours a day, either in the morning or afternoon,
five days a week for one week. Dates are:
Week
1 - June 2-6
Week 2 - June 9-13
Week
3 - June 16-20
Week 4 - June 23-27
No Classes - Week of June 30
Week 5 - July 7-11
Week 6 - July 14-18
Week 7 - July 21-25
Tuition
is $75 per class for GCISD residents and $80 per class for
non-residents of GCISD. Early care, lunch time care and late
care options are available for additional fees.
Enrollment
may be made in person at the GCISD Instructional Support
Center located on Timberline Drive on April 11, 4-7 p.m.,
April 12, 9 a.m.-12 noon and April 14, 8-11 a.m.; 1-4 p.m.
An enrollment form and a health assessment form must be
completed and returned at the time of enrollment. (Both
forms are part of the Summer Enrichment brochure which may
be downloaded below.)
Enrollment
may also be made by mail, by making checks payable to Summer
Enrichment Program. Mail payment, enrollment form and and
health assessment form to: Summer Enrichment Program, Cannon
Elementary, 1300 W. College, Grapevine, TX 76051.

Secondary
Summer School advanced registration will be held
April 14-May 23 by mailing registration form to Colleyville
Heritage High, Secondary Summer School, 5401 Heritage Ave.,
Colleyville, TX 76034. On-site registration will be held on
May 27, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at Colleyville Heritage High.
Classes meet Monday-Thursday and fees are $200 per class per
session for in-district students, $250 per class per session
for out-of-district students. A non-refundable $10
registration fee will apply to each student. Morning classes
will consist of 3 1/2 hours in instruction and two 10 minute
breaks; afternoon classes will consist of 3 1/2 hours in
instruction, a 30-minute lunch period and a 10-minute break.

GCISD
names new executive director for Human Resources
The Board of Trustees
on May 6, 2003, approved the appointment of Jason
Hubbard to the position of Executive
Director for Human Resources. Hubbard will assume
the position being vacated by Dr. Janet Hood-Hanchey,
who is leaving at the end of June to begin a new
assignment with Lewisville ISD.
Hubbard brings with
him 10 years of corporate human resources
experience, serving as the Human Resources Business
Partner with Nortel Networks of Richardson, Texas
since 1999. Prior to that, he served as the
Manufacturing Supervisor with General Motors in
Marion, Ind., in 1999; and before that was the
Operations Business Unit Manager from 1996-1999 and
Human Resources Generalist from 1993-1996 with
Nortel Networks in Nashville, Tenn. Hubbard earned a
bachelor's degree in Business Administration from
Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn., and a master's
degree in Business Administration with a
concentration in Human Resources from the Owen
School of Management, Vanderbilt University, at
Nashville.
Originally from New
York, Hubbard has extensive experience aligning
human resources with the organization's strategies
and objectives. His strengths include being a
strategic business partner, project management,
executive coaching, employee relations,
training/facilitation, performance management, team
building, reward and recognition, and change
management.
Hubbard and his wife,
Sherri, are parents of a daughter, Sydney, and son,
Jordon, who is deceased. |
