Move
over famous artists!
Fourteen of Colleyville Middle's own
future
Monets, Van Goghs and Picassos
now have their work on display on the Artsonia
website. Christine Roberts, CMS art
teacher has teamed up with Artsonia.com to
make the display possible, with CMS joining
thousands of students from over 100
countries whose artwork is showcased on
Artsonia. "This project is a wonderful
way to integrate technology into the art
curriculum," said Ms. Roberts. Artsonia
is the largest student art gallery on the
web, featuring artwork
by thousands of students of all ages.
Visitors can honor the young artists by
leaving them comments on the website. Family
members can order keepsakes featuring the
artist's work, such as tshirts, coffee mugs
and mousepads. (The Artsonia website
address is http://www.artsonia.com/schools/colleyville1)
Colleyville Middle School parents are
invited to buy school supplies by
April 25 and enjoy a tax-free

The
CMS administrative team
“worked the tables” at Applebee’s
Restaurant on Tuesday, April 15 during a
special fund-raising event. Principal Becky
Prentice, Assistant Principal Toni
Thalken, Dean of Instruction Melanie
Graham, and Counselors Diana
Fletcher and Ruth Oglesby
were all available to seat guests, refill
water glasses, and even bus a few tables.
Many CMS parents took advantage of the
opportunity to support the school and have a
meal out, with a portion of the evening’s
profits (and a few tips!) going to the
student activity fund. Glen Stuebing and the
Applebee’s staff work with CMS to make the
evening a success.
CMS
track stars broke lots of records
at the recent Meet of Champions. Brelan
Walker set a new district record by
running the 100m in 11.07 seconds and the
200m in 23.51 seconds. David Taylor
tied the GCISD Pole Vault record of 9 feet
& 6 inches and the 8th grade boys’
track team took away 3rd place out of 18
schools. Eighth grade girls also did some
record setting. Kristen Lewis
set a new CMS Shot Put record of 35 feet
& 8 ¾ inches. Lindsey Hovland
set the CMS Discus record at 91 feet & 5
inches, and Christy Lindelow
set the CMS Long Jump record at 16 feet
& 9 ¾ inches.
CMS
Student Council Representatives
played Easter Bunny again this year for
their neighboring CES students. Over 800
plastic eggs, filled with candy by the CMS
students, were hidden on the playground for
CES kindergartners. Once the hunt begans,
kindergartners made quick work of their task
and had all eggs collected within five
minutes!
The
CMS Tennis Team is
currently undefeated in district play. With
only one match remaining, they will advance
to the district tournament in the #1
position.
Cross
Timbers and Colleyville Middle Schools
Students
from two schools, Cross Timbers and
Colleyville Middle, have joined forces to help
the armed forces through Operation
Phone Home. They are seeking
donations of AT&T International Minute
Phone cards which will be sent to Spain for
use by wounded American soldiers who are
sent there for treatment. Phone calls to
home are one of the first things these
soldiers request and these cards will help
them stay in touch with their families until
they can get home. Counselors and assistant
principals from both schools are
coordinating this project and card are being
collected in the Counseling offices of both
schools.
