Students from across Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District
have joined together to send a positive message to legislators in
conjunction with the Texas PTA Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Campuses from across the district have linked students, parents and
educators together in a creative PTA-based initiative to create a
construction paper chain of handcrafted statements long enough to encircle
the exterior of a school.  The grassroots effort of creating the attached
paper messages, now being referenced as the BRITE unity chain for Budget
Reform Initiative for Texas Education, originated at O. C. Taylor
Elementary last week.  The project was embraced by other campuses, and the
idea was born to unite the various links into a single chain to represent
a unified call for school finance reform.   The chain exceed 10,000 links.
Students representing various campuses of GCISD participated.
