Ever
wonder where they obtained those magnificent bronze markers and
incredible recognition pieces?
Well now you know!
When
it came time to get the markers that would honor the Hometown
Heroes at Heroes Park in Colleyville, Texas, the
participants turned to Michael Muhm to help get things in order

Muhm was instrumental in making sure that all seven markers were
just right from style to content. In fact, the Heroes Park
Historical Marker had to be flown in overnight in order to be
available for the opening of the park ceremony.
Because of the short time frame, Mike actually stepped in to do the
installation of the markers to be sure that everything would be in
place for the big day. This "beyond the call of duty" customer
service is a big reason why cities, colleges, hospitals, law
schools and school districts look to Mike when they need to
recognize individuals. He started his independently owned
company in 2000 representing just one manufacturer, Metal Décor.
Today Recognition Products of the Southwest (RPSW) works with
numerous specialty and general recognition manufacturers to
provide customers with just the right product matched with the
correct manufacturer. |

On June 3rd of this
year, families of the recognized Colleyville Hometown Heroes were
on hand to unveil the bronze markers recognizing their loved
ones. All markers were coordinated by Recognition Products
of the Southwest. |
Mike provided the
following real life customer success stories and summary on his company:
Since we have such a diverse client base, we get involved with many different kinds of projects…..and each one is unique. Here is a brief list of a few unique projects:
§ A Louisiana art museum needed a custom donor recognition display that complimented the stainless steel hardware used throughout the contemporary building. We designed an attractive and functional 10’ x 8’ all stainless steel display with removable stainless steel nameplates (5 different category sizes) that allowed museum administration to easily order and update the display themselves.
§ A major Law School in the southwest wanted a donor recognition piece that allowed them to acknowledge annual donors to the Chancellors Society. We designed and created a custom mahogany base with brass plate that awards an etched glass piece that fits into the wood base annually to each donor. This award has been successful in establishing over 225 annual consecutive donors.

Samples of some of the fine work of Mike's company:
 |
§ The college of architecture at a major Texas university wanted to update their endowed scholarship donor display. We designed a contemporary wall display that contained 11 glass panels covering an area 20’ x 6’ to acknowledge their current donors and allowed plenty of room for future growth of their programs.
§ A major private university in Texas wanted a cast bronze wall display to acknowledge two major philanthropists of the institution. Working with their graphics department, we created several large 3’ x 6’ cast bronze plaques that were attached to a custom built wall to appropriately honor these special donors.
§ A major hospital in Dallas needed a donor wall and naming opportunity signage for a new outside park they were creating. We worked with their designers and created a durable stainless steel free-standing display and plaques that timelessly recognize their contributors.
§ A North Texas private Christian school had just completed their capital campaign and wanted to recognize their donors and identify naming opportunities. Using cast aluminum, we designed and crated numerous pieces which matched their existing recognition. Additionally, at the last minute, they called up on us to provide them with ADA signage for the classrooms and exterior way-finding signage. We completed all projects ahead of schedule.

 |
| § A DFW school district wanted a display to honor the football players and others who helped make them state champions. We designed a cast bronze plaque that listed the players, coaches, staff and schedule to memorialize a special season. The display was placed at the football stadium for all their fans to enjoy. Additionally, we added individual cast bronze “Hall of Fame” plaques to commemorate persons of special significance to their sports program.

Other Information
Selecting a donor recognition company can be a difficult decision. Design and price are just two of the many factors to consider. Other factors that are just as critical include customer service, product functionality & flexibility, final product quality, and establishing a long-term relationship with your recognition partner. When designing, we consider architectural and spaced relationships, lighting, ease of maintenance and the potential for growth. Our turn-key solutions include consultation, design, fabrication, installation and follow-up.
Product functionality and Flexibility
Several recognition companies can produce appealing designs, but often fail to produce a quality product that will withstand the test of time. They may not provide you with the flexibility you need in terms of a system that is expandable and easy to maintain. Our designers have a working knowledge of how our systems are made and work closely with the customer to ensure the final product is going to be as functional as it is beautiful.
