Colleyville Lions Club announces 2006 Scholarship Recipients

2006 Winners represented six area local high schools
At the regular 7:00 am Friday April 28th morning meeting at the Colleyville Center; the recipients of the 2006 Collegiate Scholarships were announced.  The winners represented six different area high schools. Click on photos to enlarge

At the regular 7:00 am Friday morning meeting at the Colleyville Center; the recipients of the 2006 Collegiate Scholarships were announced.

Forty-one applications from area high school seniors were reviewed and considered by the Scholarship Committee. The 2006 Scholarship Committee included Lions Tom Cannon, Michael Muhm, Jerome Davis, General Hank Smyth and Scholarship Chairman Nelson Thibodeaux.

The six finalists will each receive a $1,000 cash scholarship for college related expenses. The recipients were from Lauren Schneider, Carroll Sr. High School, Taylor Barber, Grapevine High School, Monica Ann Ridgway, Colleyville Heritage High School, Stephanie Adams, Keller High School, Tiffany Ann Moore, Birdville High School and Sarah Marie Jung, Richland High School. The students are shown with the parents below.


Monica Ann Ridgway,
of Grapevine, will graduate from Colleyville Heritage High School and will attend the University of Texas pursuing a double major in Marketing and International Business.

Lauren Schneider
, of Southlake, will graduate from Carroll Sr. High School and attend MacAlester College.  Schneider, finished #1 in her class, and intends to pursue a career in diplomacy and foreign policy along with international law.

Sarah Jung, of North Richland Hills, will graduate from  Richland High School where she ranked #5 in her class. Jung will attend Oklahoma State University where she will study architecture.

Stephanie Adams, of Keller, will graduate from Keller High School,  where she has won a number of Business Professional Texas and National competition.
She will attend Taylor University and study Business.

Taylor Barber, of Hurst, will graduate from Grapevine High School as a Straight "A" student and will attend University of Texas at Arlington to study Nursing.

Tiffany Moore, of North Richland Hills, will graduate from Birdville High School where she was #2 in her class.  Moore will attend Baylor University where she plans to major in History with plans to become a High School History Teacher.

Over the past six years alone, the Colleyville Lions Club has awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships to area high school seniors. Funds are raised from Lions events including Breakfast with Santa in December at the Colleyville Center, Hole in One each year at Bob Moore’s in Colleyville, and the x-Sightment Run. This year’s x-Sightment Run will be held on June 3rd beginning at Riverwalk in Colleyville at the Center. 

The Colleyville Lions Club is 130 plus members strong and meets every Friday morning at 6:45 am at the Colleyville Center located on Riverwalk and Church Streets in Colleyville.
