CES Music Teacher Earns
Prestigious Award
Score A Goal In The Classroom and the Schola
Cantorum of Texas recently honored Carroll
Elementary Music Teacher Pam Platt with the
prestigious Bayard H. Friedman Hero Award. Pam
earned this for being an outstanding elementary
music teacher. The awards presentation took place
earlier this month at the Schola Concert held at
First United Methodist Church in Hurst.

The Bayard H. Friedman Hero Award was established to
honor outstanding school employees. Mr. Friedman, a
renowned civic leader, was a strong proponent of
challenging students and educators to continuously
strive to raise the level of education and
excellence of those in positions of serving our
children and communities.
Pam has been an outstanding music specialist for
grades K-4 and a show choir director at Carroll
Elementary School since 2006. Over her 31-year
career she has nurtured her student’s souls and
instilled in them a fundamental love of music.
Pam graduated with a Bachelors of Music Education
Degree from Henderson State University and has
attended Texas Women’s University for advanced
musical training which has enabled her to strengthen
her teaching skills, which has been rewarded with
numerous outstanding achievement and recognition
awards. Pam and her husband, David, who is also a
former music Hero Award winner, are tireless
community advocates for the fine arts.
