The
Colleyville Middle School 8th grade team recently
participated in the State Destination Imagination
tournament. The “Uber Blue Paws” participated in the
“Switch” challenge in which they had to build a
structure out of balsa wood and glue that would bear
weight. They also had to perform a skit that
included an example of a switch item, an item that
had 2 distinct uses. The Uber Blue Paws placed 1st
in their challenge and will be moving on to compete
in GLOBAL Finals to be held at the University of
Tennessee in May.
The team was also awarded the Renaissance Award for
outstanding skill in the areas of engineering,
design or performance. The team’s tiny 22 gram
structure held 420 lbs and 745 lbs of weight!
