Colleyville Police had issued a warrant for Bachstein's arrest on March 20, 2008 for failing to register as a convicted Sex Offender with his current address as required by state law.  Before he was picked up on that warrant, Bachstein was spotted driving the Stokes' family Suburban without their permission by Fort Worth Police.

 

Bachstein led Fort Worth Police on a brief car chase and subsequently crashed the Suburban in Fort Worth while attempting to elude arrest. 

 

This was the same blue Suburban with a red door that Doug Bachstein had appropriated just 3 years earlier on April 8, 2005 while trying to evade Officer Raymon Cannon in Colleyville.  He had crashed the SUV into the old Couch building on State Highway 26, then led local police on a foot chase into the Kroger Grocery before being finally subdued.

 

Hopefully, Mark and Melinda Stokes, who told neighbors in 2005 that they believed that Bachstein had a "born again experience" and was of no danger to their own children in spite of his status as a juvenile Sex Offender, will not provide Doug Bachstein with the $30,000 Bond.

 

Whether Child Protective Services had conducted reviews in the Stokes household while Bachstein was living there, and prior to Mark Stokes arrest for Assault Causes Bodily Injury-Family Violence is not known.
