Pit Crew Thieves Steal Chrome Wheels & Tires While Residents Sleep...

Thieves with speed, muffled jacks and lug wrenches invade the streets and driveways of Colleyville to relieve our rides of their gilded wheels...

8/25/10  Theft at 3402 Pembrooke Parkway South in Woodland Hills.  Officer John Arenz took the report at 4:24 AM from John Allen Grace, 65, who went outside to discover his silver colored 2007 GMC Yukon on blocks, which turned out to be landscaping rocks.  Four 20" chrome wheels ($4,000) with new Firestone tires ($2,000) had been removed from the SUV by unknown thieves during the night.

8/25/10  Theft from 4900 Green Oaks Drive in Brook Meadows.  Officer Bob Etheridge took the report from homeowner Michael Cobb, 53, who said that sometime between 12:00 AM and 7:00 AM, all four 20" chrome wheels and tires (n/a) had been stolen from his white Chevrolet Silverado pickup..

8/24/10 - 8/25/10  Theft at 2208 Norwalk Drive in Summerbrook West.  Officer Derrick Castleberry was advised by the homeowner, Gary Thurman Beggs, 57, that he also discovered his vehicle up on landscape rocks.  All four 22" chrome wheels ($2,000) and tires ($2,000) had been stolen.  Detective David Martz is following up the investigation into the thefts.

Last week Local News Only reported the first Colleyville incident in the series of chrome wheel and tire thefts (below):

8/13/10  Theft from 5801 Lansford Lane in Highland Meadows.  Layne Edward Nunes, 38, reported to     Officer Derrick Castleberry at 7:30 AM that unknown suspect(s) stole four "aftermarket" wheels with tires ($2,500) from his parked black 2007 Chevrolet Suburban.  Detective David Martz is investigating the theft.                                                                         ***

Different crime, but also very disturbing - two separate women pumping gas at two different gas stations were targeted by snatch and grab thieves...

8/25/10  Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, not by forced entry at 4200 Glade Road at Halls Grocery.  Sarah Guinn, 27, of Grapevine was pumping gas into her SUV, a gray 2007 Lexus RX 400h at 6:45 PM, according to Officer Tanner Mahan's report.  Guinn never left her vehicle unattended, but while she was busy at the pump, a suspect opened her car door on the opposite side, snatched her pink Neiman Marcus handbag ($15), day planner ($50), and food container ($5), and fled the area in another vehicle.

8/24/10  Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, not by forced entry at 4405 Colleyville Boulevard at the Mobil station.  Officer Kevin Maddux responded at 8:15 PM and was advised by Diana Nelson, 60, of Colleyville that her Chevrolet van had also been entered by a suspect on the opposite side of van while she was pumping gas.  The thief snatched her purse ($280) containing three checkbooks, three Social Security cards, four credit/debit cards, Texas Drivers License, keys, passcard, and medication, along with a computer bag ($40) containing a pink Dell laptop ($1,200).

Detective Cheryl Womack is conducting twin investigations, following up and reviewing evidence from both incidents.  Meanwhile, it would be an excellent idea to lock all your car doors anytime you are not in the vehicle even momentarily.

It's a new world out there.

8/20/10 - 8/21/10  Criminal Mischief at 3512 Brentwood Drive in Woodbriar Estates West.  Chase Allen Hobbs, 17, of Grandview advised Officer John Retzos about a suspicious substance believed to be sugar that was poured into the gas tank of his tan Kia Rio, sometime between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.  The damage to the vehicle was estimated at $500.  Detective Kevin Walling is investigating the vandalism.

8/23/10  Public Intoxication-Minor at 5800 Colleyville Boulevard.  Officer Amy Van Zandt issued the $323 citation at 9:29 AM to Kaitlin Ann Wilson, 17, of 513 Dove Creek Circle in Grapevine.

8/20/10  Discharge of Firearms at 3503 Pembrooke Parkway South.  Officer John Retzos issued the $307 citation to the resident, Andrew Cohen, 49, at 10:22 PM.

8/20/10  Burglary of a Motor Vehicle by forced entry at 1221 Church Street at Lifetime Fitness Center.  Natalie Ensenat, 44, of Grapevine advised Officer Jennifer Chavez that sometime between 9:40 AM and 11:05 AM, unknown suspect(s) broke out the drivers side window on her silver colored 2002 Volkswagen Jetta ($300), and stole a Garmin GPS device, and Coach purse ($400) containing her makeup, wallet ($50), with two credit cards, and Texas Drivers License.  Detective Kevin Walling is following up the investigation.

8/09/10  Hit and Run at 1221 Church Street in the Lifetime Fitness parking lot.  C. David Branigan, 46, of Southlake reported to Sgt. Gregory Prewitt that his 4-door BMW 535 I had been struck by an unknown vehicle, sometime between 1:00 PM and 2:32 PM.  The damage was estimated at $5,000.

8/06/10 - 8/09/10  Criminal Mischief at 4121 Colleyville Boulevard at the Allstate Insurance agency.  Officer Charles Wallace took the report regarding sun screens that had been damaged sometime between 5:00 PM on Friday evening and 8:00 AM on Sunday morning. Damage estimate was not available at press time.
