This week, State Rep.
Vicki Truitt (R-Keller) was named a "Fighter
For Free Enterprise" by the Texas
Association of Business (TAB) for her
leadership and pro-business, pro-Texas
voting record in the 82nd Legislative
Session.
For Truitt, providing businesses the tools
to be successful is crucial to maintaining a
healthy business climate that brings in and
maintains jobs in Texas. Rep. Truitt said,
"As a small business owner, myself, I
understand what makes business work. I am
honored to be a part of our state's
Legislature that has worked to ensure that
businesses in Texas have low taxes and a
fair and predictable regulatory environment.
I am also very honored to be recognized
again by the Texas Association of Business
as a Fighter for Free Enterprise."
The Fighter For Free Enterprise award is one
of the highest accolades that the TAB awards
and is based on 20 critical votes cast by
House members throughout the Regular and
Special session on issues vital to
businesses, taxpayers and families.
"The 2011 Session was one of the most
difficult in recent history," said TAB
President and CEO Bill Hammond. "Because of
the budget, lawmakers, like Representative
Truitt, faced a lot of hard decisions, but
thankfully the majority stuck with the plan
of trimming spending and holding the line on
taxes. Because of the actions of lawmakers
like Representative Truitt, Texas' jobs
climate remains one of the best in the
country."
Founded in 1922, the Texas Association of
Business is a broad-based, bipartisan
organization representing more than 3,000
small and large Texas employers and 200
local chambers of commerce.
Representative Vicki Truitt is a seventh
term legislator from Tarrant County
representing the people of Grapevine,
Colleyville, Southlake, Keller, Westlake,
and parts of Trophy Club and Fort Worth. She
chairs the House Committee on Pensions,
Investments and Financial Services, and is a
member of the House Committees on Calendars
and Public Health. |
