Recently a select group
of legislative leaders from around the
state were appointed to a special
committee to study the state's school
finance system and recommend changes to
the 2013 Legislature

achieving better funding levels and
improving the quality and health of our
education system. We need to maximize
the efficiency and effectiveness of our
schools and act in the best interest of
our students. They deserve the best
teachers, leading standards and
innovative schools,” said Representative
Truitt. |
“As a member of this joint committee,
I’ll be able to play a key role as the
state seeks a better way to fund public
education. I’ve organized these town
hall meetings to understand my
constituents’ concerns and ensure that
the voices and opinions of the people
from the 98th District will be heard in
Austin.”
The town hall meetings will be held at
the following dates and locations from
6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., all are
encouraged to attend and participate:

The
Creation of the Joint Interim Committee
to Study the Public School Finance
System was authorized by lawmakers
during a Special Session of the Texas
Legislature last summer. The first
hearing of the Joint Interim Committee
will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012
in Austin.
Representative Vicki Truitt is a
legislator from Northeast Tarrant County
representing the people of Grapevine,
Colleyville, Southlake, Keller,
Westlake, and parts of Trophy Club, Fort
Worth, and soon to be Haslet. She is
Chair of the House Committee on
Pensions, Investments and Financial
Services, is a member of the House
Committees on Calendars and Public
Health, and is a member of the Texas
Pension Review Board.
