The peaches were sweet but the air was hot Saturday, July 14, 2001,
morning for the annual Grapevine Peach Cobbler and Peach Delight
Contest, held on the dock of the Grapevine Visitors and Information
Center. Eight dishes were entered in each of the two categories, a
delight being any food made with peaches other than cobbler.

attention to the Grapevine Farmer’s Market held each Wednesday and
Saturday. The cobblers were judged by the quality of the crust, flavor,
and over all appeal. The delights were judged by over all appeal,
flavor, and quality. The delights included a peach salsa along with bunt
cakes and creamy pies.
The five judges Bill Blick, Katherine Blick, Beth Wilder, Les
Cockeral and Linda Archer were provided with bottles of Perrier water to
cleanse their palettes between dishes. Those attending waited anxiously
for their turn to tastes the goodies after the judges were finished.

College, took first prize in the cobbler category. Her prizes included a
large basket of fruit and vegetables from the Farmer’s Market
