Armed man robs Texaco in Southlake

SOUTHLAKE - A robber brandished a pistol Monday night at a Texaco Food Mart and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said.

Apparently no shots were fired during the robbery at 2210 W. Southlake Blvd. According to Police, the man was at large late Monday.

Ground Breaking Rescheduled for Goldie's Patio Grill

The ground breaking for Goldie's Patio Grill has been rescheduled form Monday, July 30, 2001 at 10:00 am.  It will be held at the north corner of the Kroger parking lot in Colleyville.

Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce's Computers 
Infected with Sircam Worm

One of the computers at the Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce has been infected with the Sircam Worm.  The Chamber is working to remove it at this time but has requested that no emails be opened from the Chamber staff until next week. The names of the staff are Ret Stansberger, Joyce Hollaway, Bonnie O'Rourke, Heather Smith, Cindy Charters, and Marilyn Gilbert.

The Sircam Worm looks like a normal email but it is very damaging.  You can go to www.symantec.com/avcenter to see the latest information on this worm and also for removal information.

Eight Horses Lost in Fire at Wagon Wheel Ranch

An early morning fire at Wagon Wheel Ranch in northeast Grapevine resulted in the death of eight horses and destruction of the main barn.  The first call came in to the Grapevine Fire Department at 3:33 a.m. and fireman Roger Vinson was at the site by 3:36.

TRAFFIC SURVEY COUNTERS IN PLACE ON 
HALL JOHNSON ROAD


Motorists on Hall Johnson Road may have noticed that counters have been placed in two locations, one just east of the Colleyville fire station and another just east of Whitehaven Drive in Highland Meadows. Although the road has been tabbed for four lanes from State Highway 26 to Pool Road, it is uncertain how many lanes will actually be striped.

Highland Meadows Neighborhood Celebrates Patriotic 4th of July

The Highland Meadows Homeowners Association sponsored their annual Independence Day Parade and Carnival on Wednesday, July 4th.  The parade began at 9:00 a.m. and attracted approximately 200 residents.  Parade Marshall this year was "Betsy Ross", aka resident Beverly Beck's mother.  The Colleyville Police and Fire Departments participated as well.

Colleyville PeeWee Football Holds Annual Camp

The Colleyville PeeWee Football Association held their annual football and cheerleading camp from June 25 - 29, 2001 at the Colleyville Middle School football field.  

This year there was approximately 90 boys and girls that attended.  The boys learned several new drills and techniques that can be used in the future while the cheerleaders worked hard on skills from jumps to new cheers.

COLLEYVILLE CITY COUNCIL CANCELS TONIGHT'S MEETING BECAUSE OF LACK OF COUNCIL QUORUM

Local News Only.com was informed the city council meeting is cancelled tonight because there will not be a quorum.  Councilman Dennis Marlin will be absent for the second council meeting in a row.  Mr. Marlin has not appeared at a council meeting since he reportedly paid his back taxes, first covered by Local News Only.

COLLEYVILLE PIONEER D.B. COUCH IS DEAD AT 89

D.B. Couch died Friday, June 29, 2001 at his Colleyville home.  D.B. was born in Colleyville and delivered by the namesake of the city, Dr. Colley.  Evelyn Couch opened one of the city's first gas stations and grocery stores in the early 1930s.  

At the time of his death, D.B. and Evelyn Couch had been married for 69 years. The funeral is scheduled Monday July 2, 2001 12:30PM at Bluebonnet Chapel in Colleyville.

The death of Mr. Couch came almost one year to the date after the City of Colleyville pressured the couple to sell their historical property. The action became a highly controversial issue after the City Council immediately leased the property to a local developer for $10 per month.

COLLEYVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MOVED TO MONDAY
JULY 2, DUE TO HOLIDAY

Colleyville City Council will hold their first regular meeting of July on Monday, July 2. It was moved forward one day due to the holiday. The regular meeting will commence at 7:30 p.m. following an executive session at 6:45 p.m. Executive session items include discussions about property acquisition, the proposed sale of city owned property on Colleyville Boulevard, and the city manager executive search.
