LAWSUIT
SETTLED IN CALDWELL'S
CREEK VS DEVELOPER
Approximately
four years after Raman Chandler filed a lawsuit against the City of
Colleyville and a subsequent lawsuit filed by the Caldwell's Creek
Homeowners Association against interests of Chandler, a settlement has
been reached. Steve
Magee, VP of the Caldwell's Creek HOA announced that a Rule 11 Mediated
Settlement Agreement was reached this week. The litigation involved
disputes concerning ownership of private open space and related issues.
Mr. Magee said the terms of the settlement are confidential and that a
joint statement will be released at a later date.

McPHERSON PARK MASTER PLAN
COMMITTEE APPOINTED
After
a lengthy discussion about its purpose and mission, the Colleyville City
Council appointed a new seven-member committee at Tuesday night’s
meeting. At least three of
the seven are currently active in sports associations, and only one of
the original committee members was carried over to the new group.
Individuals appointed include Mark Howe, Bill Mitchell, Tom
Sweatt, Lynn Putnam, Ed Havran, Pat Davis, and Bob Leininger.

Police Department were once home to the City Hall and Fire
Department as well. Over
the years the other departments have moved out to newer locations,
and soon the police will be relocating |

State Organization Sponsors Logo Contest

Students in grades K-12 are invited to participate in a logo contest
to promote clean air in Texas. The logo will be for clean vehicles that
receive funding through Senate Bill 5. Each vehicle that meets the
criteria will be given a sticker that will entitle the vehicle to be
driven in HOV lanes. |

A study of leadership strategies conducted by two assistant
professors at Tarleton State University called "Effective School
Districts, Effective Leaders - What is the Connection?" rates
Carroll ISD first among 4A school districts in Texas. Schools in the
current study were scrutinized based on their performance on 12 key
school effectiveness indicator variables derived from the 1999-2000

comes to the area. This motorist hits a patch of ice at Tinker
& Hwy 26, Wednesday afternoon. The driver was not hurt
when she lost control of the vehicle and it skidded across the guard
rail at the deep drainage ditch.

THE
3RD ANNUAL CELEBRATE COLLEYVILLE
The
City of Colleyville is planning the third annual “Celebrate
Colleyville” holiday extravaganza this Friday, November 30 from 5:00
p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Colleyville City Park.
This community holiday event will include live Santa and friends
arriving by Parade, Santa’s workshop, petting zoo, pony rides, on-site
appearance of Radio Disney, face painting, magician, additional children’s
activities, holiday tree lighting, food and beverages, and entertainment
including a patriotic tribute with Becky James singing “God Bless
America” and “Angel September 11, 2001 Memorial Rendition” and a
fireworks display for the grand finale.
City Park will also be magnificently illuminated with holiday
decorations.

is a 19 year old teen prodigy whose artistic talent has received
national recognition. She has appeared on Oprah twice, and can be seen
on The Rosie O'Donnell Show in the next few weeks.

NEW MCPHERSON PARK COMMITTEE
The
Colleyville City Council is expected to make appointments to yet another
McPherson Park Master Plan Committee at their regular meeting on Tuesday,
November 27, 2001. The
committee was established at the October 16, 2001 council meeting, and its
purpose is to review the existing plan and “develop a plan that
addresses both the current and future recreational and athletic needs of
the City” according to the agenda briefing.

NEWTON’S SWEARING IN RESCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 27
Dr.
Richard Newton, recently elected to Colleyville City Council Place 4, has
been notified he will be sworn in at 7:30 p.m. on November 27,
the next regular city council meeting.
The swearing in was attempted following the canvassing on Monday,
November 12, but Newton said he was not informed of that plan until one
hour prior to the meeting and was unable to attend. To

officials of Colleyville said the developer paid for the Hwy 26
median fiasco. A
revised TIF agreement, Resolution R-01-1751, was approved 3-2 and
signed by Mayor Arp on January 16, 2001.
It also includes the item “Median Improvements to
Colleyville Boulevard" providing repayment to the developer.

4a state marching contest
The
GHS and Carroll bands will be going to Waco on Monday, November 5,
2001 to compete in the 4A State Marching Contest. The
Carroll band will be performing in the prelims at 12:45 PM and the
GHS band will be performing at 2:30 PM. Finals will start at
7:30 PM that evening. Seven of the 21 bands will make it
into the finals.
