In the early morning on Thursday, April 28th, Colleyville 911 Dispatcher, Becky Riddick, received a call from a frantic resident who said her husband could not be awakened and did not appear to be breathing...the distraught wife was not prepared for resuscitation.
Ms. Riddick dispatched Fire Department units to the home in the 4000 block of Buckingham Place, while the information was relayed over the air. Officer John Arenz responded first to the residence. Upon arrival, Officer Arenz found no pulse in the man's carotid artery, and began immediate mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Within moments, the Fire Department arrived and began extensive resuscitation efforts. Thanks to the immediate responses by Dispatcher Becky Riddick, Officer John Arenz, and the Fire Department, the gentleman's pulse was restored, and he was then transported to a local hospital.
Officer
Chuck Tinsman of Colleyville was advised of a possible
intoxicated driver, on Sunday April 10th, after the Grapevine
Police Department notified Colleyville dispatch.
Tinsman spotted the dark gray Ford on SH 26 around 5:29 pm and
began to observe the driving.
On April 8, 2005, after a high speed chase through our neighborhood, the
Colleyville police arrested a convicted child molester who was illegally
living in the Bransford area. The police initially became interested in
this individual when they noticed him driving a borrowed car, apparently
looking for open and unattended garages in the area. We believe this man
was a “house guest” of a local family who took him in as an act of
kindness. While we sympathize with their motives, we feel that allowing
this man to illegally stay unsupervised in our neighborhood is an
unacceptable risk to our children, and our families.
Colleyville residents can get rid of hazardous household chemicals--
otherwise known as crud-- from the garage, storage shed or under the

bring household chemical waste to the Crud Cruiser, a specially equipped
collection trailer, to the parking lot south of City Hall located at 100
Main Street from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., or until full.

GCISD Superintendent asks
do taxpayers want "steroid testing or bilingual teachers?"
Dr.
Kay Waggoner, Superintendent of Schools for GCISD, was the feature
speaker at the April 22nd Colleyville Lions Club.
Waggoner pointed out that although, "we (GCISD) have been the
poster child for steroid abuse but it is not the prevalent misused
drug."
Random testing for the drug could cost as much as $175
versus $14 to $16 to test for the most abused substances such as
alcohol and marijuana. Taxpayers are faced with the cost of
the testing program and have to ask do they want "steroid
testing or bilingual teachers?", said Waggoner. Click

service station
During the night of April 9, 2005, two male suspects bashed a large
18" x 5' tall hole in the exterior brick wall at the rear of the
Texaco convenience store building at 7990 Precinct Line Road. The
nocturnal thieves were recorded on surveillance tape as they proceeded
to rip the alarm system out of the wall, and cut the telephone lines.
The men hauled off with the Automatic Teller Machine, which was chock
full of Saturday night cash; an estimated $10,000 to $12,000. The ATM
itself is valued at $6,000. Also taken, according to Officer Raymon

Colleyville's City Council Candidates
set for only one forum on Sunday at 7pm at the Colleyville Center
sponsored by Lions Club
If voters want to see their City Council Candidates up close and
personal, their only opportunity in Colleyville will be Sunday night.
The Colleyville Lions Club is sponsoring a candidates forum at 7 pm at
the Colleyville Center. Other than a few political signs, this
year's election seems to be drawing little attention.
David Kelly may be making a stronger race than many
political observers thought he would. Kelly has never
served on a decision making City Board, such as Planning
and Zoning, or in elected office. Kelly has said he
decided rather than just talk about city politics he wanted to
do something about helping the city, so he decided to run for
office.
John Grace, served on City Council from 1994-1998 with a
reputation as a no-nonsense administrator. He most
recently was President of the Colleyville Soccer Association.
Grace also was appointed to the Colleyville Economic Task Force
last year and instrumental in a number of presentations. Grace
is an independent financial consultant. Grace has said he
wants to insert a calm style of leadership and fiscal
conservative direction to city council.
Tony Licata has a Masters from SMU and served as
an executive with a large public company.
Mike Taylor states that while
he does not have a college degree he is a small businessman.

AN LNO EXCLUSIVE Colleyville's Car Chase Suspect was
arrested twice in Southlake
Colleyville Mug Shot
from April 8th
Doug
Bachstein was apprehended in a high speed car chase through
neighborhoods of Colleyville on Friday April 8th.
Bachstein is known to Southlake Police as well. The
suspect had been arrested twice in Southlake. July 2003 he
was arrested for probation and parole violations and then again
in December 2003 for parole violation. Despite the fact
the convicted child molester had a prison sentence that would
keep him incarcerated until next year and the fact he was
arrested for multiple probation and parole violations, Bachstein
put police officers and civilians in harms way on Friday
night. His attempt to evade Colleyville Officer Raymon
Cannon resulted in Bachstein wrecking out after crashing into the historic Couch building on
Colleyville Boulevard.
The Friday night five minute car chase
was recorded on the in-car camera of Colleyville Officer Raymon
Cannon. The in-car camera recorded Bachstein's maneuvers in his
attempt to evade the police officer including a near collision at one
point with the police car. Click

Colleyville Police chase ends up in
destruction of famous Couch property and assault on police officer. After a Friday night car chase, including the suspect crashing into a city-owned building, followed by a foot chase after the offender into a local grocery store, plus a fight, Officer Raymon Cannon can testify to the veracity of the oft-repeated police credo, "There is no such thing as a routine traffic stop."
Officer Raymon Cannon attempted to
stop the a vehicle on Friday night, however the suspect fled and
the chase was on!
Skid marks can be seen on the
lower left where the Suburban began to loose control and crash
into the landmark building. The suspect attempt to escape and
was subdued in the Colleyville Kroger store.

Officer Bill Hudgins, Colleyville Police Department, is the
coordinator of the instructional course. The program takes

unique opportunity to meet most of the city's police force one

Hudgins announced that the
classes plan an alumni association that will meet and work with
the police on many levels. Hudgins said that he is working
on a COP or Citizens on Patrol program as the next level for the
CAP graduates. Click
