DISTRICT CLERK RECEIVES BEST PRACTICES AWARD FROM TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES

Fort Worth... District Clerk Tom Wilder announced today that his web-based access to court records program received a “Best Practices Award” for “Exceptional Delivery of Services” from the Texas Association of Counties. The award was presented August 12th on the floor of the Texas Senate and was accepted by Operations Manager Clete McAlister as Mr. Wilder was co-hosting an event for Governor Perry in Fort Worth. “This system is a win-win situation for those who need to research court records and who wish to save time and who don’t want to come to the courthouse to look at the paper file,” Wilder said. Since January, 341 accounts have been opened who pay $35.00 monthly for access. This revenue offsets part of the cost to the taxpayer and a recently enacted records management fee further reduces the cost to the taxpayer.
“Landlords, employees, law firms, title companies, news media, and even non-profit organizations need this system to do background searches and other research. The Web-Based Access will replace our old Dial-In system that we established my first year in office (1995) and will be more efficient and offer much more information and the users will pay the cost instead of the tax payer,” Wilder added.
This is the second Best Practices Award received by Wilder. The first was in 2002 for his “Records Management Program”. The District Clerk’s Office was chosen to be the pilot project for imaging of records which would replace microfilm allowing quicker and more secure access to court records for the judiciary, Sheriff, District Attorney and other county departments needing such access.
This award was for the next step allowing access to subscribers outside the county firewall.
