Colleyville City Council Creates 
First Permanent Library Board

The Colleyville City Council established the first permanent library board and made appointments at its Tuesday night meeting.  The ordinance, adopted unanimously, established the number of Board members, terms of office, qualifications for service and provided for duties and responsibilities of the Board.  Later in the meeting appointments were made by resolution.  Of the sixteen applications received, seven were appointed to places and two alternates were selected.  They are as follows:

Place 2 Mary Alice Rippe
Place 3 Caren Handleman
Place 4 Gary Taraba
Place 5 Richard Roxburgh
Place 6 Susan Barzelay
Place 7 Carol Wollin
Alternate 1 Nancy Eycheson
Alternate 2 Mary Ann Nicholson

Applications were also received from Jim Moore, Chris Faulkner, Shelly Borders, Steve Magee, Ed Havran, John Stanford, Vonna McMeans, Luann Edwards, and Sheryl Black.  Councilmembers thanked all applicants for their interest in the positions.

Seven ex officio members were also named.  They are:

Superintendent of GCISD Dr. Kevin Singer
President of Tarrant County College Larry Darlage
Mayor of Colleyville Donna Arp
Fort Worth Star Telegram Steve Jacobs
Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce Ret Stansberger
Corporate/Business Representative To be announced

In a brief update, city staff reported that the designs for the library are being finalized and they are beginning the process of getting cost estimates.  They plan to advertise for bids in the fall, with a projected construction start in the late fall or early winter.  Completion is estimated to be in early 2003.
