Dateline: May 19, 2001 Third Annual Colleyville Woman's Club Circle of Hope Recognition Awards and Grants Presentation...Kimberly Connor The Colleyville Woman's Club held the third annual Circle of Hope Recognition Awards and Grants presentation on Friday, May 18, 2001 at the Four Seasons Resort and Club at Las Colinas. The Master of Ceremonies was the 1999 CWC Patron Award Honoree, Mr. Scott Murray, Sports Director/Anchor NBC-5.
Registration and reception began at 10:30 AM with the luncheon and program following from 11:00 to 1:00 PM. Mrs. Suzanne Harrington, Event Chair, welcomed everyone to the event and then turned it over to Mrs. Sue Howery, CWC President, to introduced Mr. Murray who provided an inspirational speech before lunch began. Mrs. Neda Moayad, Allocations and Grants Chair, and Kathy Hoshi, Allocations and Grants Vice Chair, announced the Grant Recipients for 2001. (Click here to see a list of the recipients.) Following the Grants Presentation, Mrs. Yvonne Busa, Youth Recognition Chair, announced the scholarship winners for 2001. There were:
Billie Jo Runyon, Treasurer and Darla Dennison, Third Vice President, then announced the total amount of the Check. The Recognition Awards were presented by Vivian Quatro, Awards and Honors Chair and Vicki Leech, Awards and Honors Vice Chair. (Click here to see a list of the recipients.)
Mr. Murray closed the program and thanked everyone for coming and supporting such an important event. After the event, Suzanne Harrington, Event Chair, stated that "Today is a celebration of each of us and all of us." She also added, "Our sponsors and donors that support us are the stars in the middle." Several of the CWC members stated that, "Suzanne did an outstanding job", "It was perfect", and "It gets better every year". Sue Howery has been the CWC President for the past two years. When LNO spoke with her after the event she stated "For me this is about more than just today. It is about the last two years and the amount of heart of our volunteers put into this and the amount we were able to give. It takes every piece to make this happen and it is so rewarding to see our grant recipients, volunteers and sponsors pull all together." When LNO asked Mrs. Howery what role she would be playing next year (this was her last year as President) she stated, "I'm not sure exactly where I will be but I care to deeply about this organization not to continue with it. I will assist in more of a behind the scenes roll. I had many goals when I started as President two years ago and I want to make sure all of those goals are completed." When asked what specific areas that was she stated, "Membership has always been very important to me. We all joined CWC for a different reason and we need to find out exactly what that reason is to help each member flourish."
