As the catch phrase for the past decade WWJD comes to
mind
DEAR EDITOR, PLEASE KEEP MY NAME AND EMAIL WITHHELD , THANK YOU
I have been reading up on the situation at FBCC. Being a past member of the church I am saddened to hear of the current events that have taken place. Although I am not too surprised. Years ago before the " Harber" reign, FBCC was a loving, growing, spirit filled church.

Time to move on people
I just happened to read a fews of the letters this morning and could not believe how mean-spirited some of these comments have become. In response to the most recent letter, where the world "ashamed" was used, I believe there are several individuals who might consider re-directing their efforts for a better and higher purpose. Fight the GOOD fight...finish the race WELL...and fix your eyes on JESUS, not on a man or a group of four. Let's move on people!

Colleyville Four Responsible
To the Colleyville four,
Congratulations! You've have successfully tore up and split a church. Aren't you a bunch of genius's. Here's a bit of news for you. It is not up to you four whether or not we build, expand or do anything outside of our current
building. There are a thousand or so other people at FBCC that get a vote. It isn't just about you. It's only about God and you should be ashamed.

Harber's
leaving is not because of the "Lost Four"
I just read the August 25th and other seemly bitter e-mails to the Editor concerning Dr. Harber and removal of four members. I don't understand why the writers seems to insinuate the four members were responsible for Dr. Harber's downfall. They were no longer members of the church and had no voting power. The Leadership Board of FBCC, who were voted into office by the membership of the church, were the ones to ask for his resignation. Certainly not the four who lost their membership.
I don't know for a fact, but I don't believe the "Lost Four" were the ones to initiate the Hooters golf tournament, send Dr. Harber a registration application, paid his entrance fee, and encouraged him to attend. I don't believe it was the "Lost Four" who schemed up the idea of a land deal, presented it to Dr. Harber and encouraged him to participate in it. There may very well be a need for us to blame someone, point fingers at, and call names.
I offer my opinion that we need to blame none other then Satan himself. Satan presented the opportunities to entice Dr. Harber and, Dr. Harber upon his own free will, choose those entices. If you still find the need to point fingers of blame at someone, what about the other current members of the church who participated in this land scheme with Dr. Harber? Were they not tools Satan used to entice Dr Harber? They were every bit as culpable as Dr. Harber. Yet, I hear nothing of the Leadership Board taking action against them.
I think its time to stop pointing fingers of blame and to start healing. Dr. Harber was the type of preacher who stayed in the spotlight. As a result of this Satan put a target a mile wide on Dr. Harber's back and took dead aim at it. Dr. Harber stood no chance against such a might foe if, for even a split second, he lost his focus on Jesus. Dr. Harber blinked and Satan had his victory. No matter how high Dr. Harber was held in esteem by others, he was only a man. He was subject to all the entices of sin as you and I are. He was bound to error, just as you and I.
I was a former member of FBCC and left because of the turmoil the church was in and the direction it was taking. Even so, If I was to see Dr. Harber today I would put my arms around him, hug him, and offer any support I could in this terrible time for him. Now is the time for us to forget, show Christian love, and help everyone involved to heal and once again maintain their focus on Jesus. Christ Jesus demands nothing less from us.

Get
facts straight before your tirade
I mean no offense by sending this e-mail, but I do think that
Mr. or Ms. Brown should have ALL his or her facts before going off on a
tirade as in today's e-mail. I , for one, don't like to have egg on my face when the whole truth comes out. I, to feel for the Harber's and wish for them complete healing because of this awful " UNGODLY" situation at FBCC. Attitudes such as these will always create a situation in the chuirch that can fracture the "Body of Christ". Think and know the facts before making such comments as were in your current e-mail, as it will do you nor anyone else a bit of good. It tends only to draw us away from our walk with the LORD. The Bible explicitly tells us to let no anger cause dissention break out among us.

Dr.
Harber was against removal of the four members...didn't want
a mega church...
Dr. Harber was against the removal of the four members of
FBCC. Dr. Harber has NEVER wanted a mega church and anyone who claims that is lying. Now that the vengeful have succeeded in removing our beloved pastor in order to regain control over the church they pretend to be spokespersons for the church by openly speaking to any media outlet that will listen. They do not speak for the legitimate members of our congregation.
There are others that are either responsible or partly responsible for each of these so-called ‘scandals’ yet they are not mentioned or standing up for Dr. Harber and the church. The facts are not accurate which leads me to believe this is yet another part of the campaign to annihilate the reputation of a great evangelist and regain control over the church.
I agree with Dr. Harber’s stand to not go public with the facts. A good Christian would not 1 – Give the satisfaction of responding to such false accusations and 2 – Not mention the names of others who have not already spoken up for themselves. This church will suffer greatly for the selfish acts of the few people with media influence and the gall to make public accusations without all the facts. Removing Dr. Harber from our church has caused the innocent much pain and has removed an incredibly effective tool for winning lost souls for our church – we should all mourn that loss. The persons involved in the elaborate media campaign against Dr. Harber are the ones guilty of causing this church the enormous amounts of pain we are currently suffering.

Censorship at the Colleyville Courier
I read the Colleyville Courier's 8/25 article on FBCC and
attempted to post a comment on their website that was
critical of the article. I submitted it once and it
didn't appear. I submitted it again and it didn't
appear.
I submitted a test comment to see if it was a systems issue,
and my test
comment appeared. I then re-submitted for a THIRD time
my comment and it didn't appear. Finally I submitted
another test comment, and it appeared. Clearly the Courier
is censoring comments, which is my reason for passing this
on to you.
I know you may not agree with my view and my comments, but
wanted you to be
aware of the censorship that is happening at the Colleyville
Courier and expose them for the frauds that they are.
Please withhold my name as I am fearful of retribution by
the Courier.
Attached to this e-mail is a screenshot the comment board
which clearly shows my test postings but not my critical
commentary posting.

The following is what I attempted to post 3 times:
It should come as no surprise that the Courier and Scott
Price continue
their agenda-laden hatchet job on FBCC. The
following is an interesting read, and obviously is something
that neither the Courier nor Scott Price ascribe to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journalism_ethics_and_standards
Because the Courier and Mr. Price lack journalistic
integrity, and because I cannot cancel my subscription to
the Courier, I am personally boycotting all of the Courier's
advertisers, and would encourage others who feel similarly
to do the same.
I did find Mike Taylor's comments deliciously ironic,
though:
“This past year has not been glorifying to God in any
sense. I just
really hope that our church should...evaluate...who is in
charge. And it’s
not men, it is Christ.”

Editor's
Note
We are WAAAAAAAAAY in agreement with your comments about the
Courier and in particular Scott Price. Until one has
personal knowledge of the facts and, in turn, reads the
facts as altered by Price and the Courier, one can not
appreciate your frustration. Unfortunately, LNO and its
Editor have both been a victim of Mr. Price's sophomoric
antics passed off as news reporting. All Price's bylines should be listed as
a "column" so the public fully appreciates it is
an opinion column, not journalistic reporting.
The Courier did not break the news on the land deal first,
LNO first reported the story. The Courier never had an article on
Harber playing in the Hooter's Tournament, this was an LNO exclusive. They
are now pretending to be some investigative source, after
the fact. The Courier consistently is required to
print retractions, for example their claim that John Fegan
was an owner of BKY, the company that was involved in the
land transaction. The Courier printed the claim on the
front page and buried the correction next to a photo of a
high school student in an totally unrelated event in the
next issue.
Finally, Mike Taylor is always available for a quote
to Price as Price is always ready to print Taylor's spin on
virtually any subject. Taylor and Price have
a very comfy relationship, as noted in previous articles on
LNO. Even Price will attempt to protect his
"inside" source of information.
If enough people stand up and expose matters as you have,
perhaps the Star-Telegram will eventually put someone that
does not have a personal axe to grind in charge of the Courier.

Why is
everyone up in arms
Is the main "sin" that Dr. Harber committed was that he played golf in a Hooters tournament and got a good deal on some land for his home? If so, I fail to see what everyone is so up-in-arms over. Christians are to go where we can be salt and light to a lost world and to be good stewards of what God has given us.
And the church called (hired) him to provide vision and leadership, but then they apparently didn't like the vision and leadership he provided. I don't know Dr. Harber. I had not heard of him until a friend showed me this web-site earlier this week. I am curious how many other churches in America are dealing petty bickering such as this. And we Christians wonder why the world is rejecting our message.

Paige
Patterson responds to column
Dear Editor:
Nelson Thibodeaux's article relating me to the situation at First
Baptist Colleyville is, at best, misleading, at worse slanderous.
While I am not a player in anything that has happened or is happening at the
church, I am a thoroughgoing advocate of congregationalism in Baptist
churches and hence in disagreement with "elder-rule" ecclesiology.
Any reading of the book Mr. Thibodeaux referenced entitled Who Runs the
Church would show that I am defending congregationalism against other
positions, meaning that either Mr. Thibodeaux did not do his homework
before he spoke or else he deliberately misrepresented me. Shall I
hope for innocence or duplicity? Either is not good journalism.
Though I know Frank Harber and pray for him and for his family, I have
not been closely associated with him as Thibodeaux suggests. Neither
do Pressler (a layman) and Patterson advocate now or ever that the pastor
is the "unquestioned ruler of the church," or a ruler of any kind. To
the contrary the pastor is a shepherd and a servant to the flock of
God.
I have opposed irresponsible congregationalism just as I oppose
irresponsibility anywhere. But, I have lived my entire ministry as an
advocate of congregationalism.
Lumping Danny Forshee into the story is just as irresponsible.
Forshee is a member and a friend of Harber as is Michael Ray. But, Forshee
led Liberty Baptist in Hampton, Virginia, to remain a congregationally
governed church and did indeed build a great church.
Clearly, Thibodeaux has an axe to grind but if he grinds it he should
at least check his facts.
Paige Patterson
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
Editor's
Note: The "article" was a column, meaning my
opinion and clearly stated as such. Apparently Dr.
Patterson feels that the only part of the column that was
correct was the Big Game Hunter aspect, since that was not
addressed. The quote in the column was actually a
photo copy of a paragraph found on page 142 in the
referenced book, perhaps there are other comments we missed,
in this book, that would confirm Dr. Patterson's defense of
congregationalism and we would be glad to point same out to
the reader, when Dr. Patterson points out to us.
The comments concerning Pressler/Patterson were attributed
to Dr.
Rick McClatchy and Dr. Bruce Prescott of the Mainstream
Baptist Network and clearly highlighted as such.
The story never mentioned Danny Forshee or Michael Ray. There
is an
email, in this section, that referenced the two, but their
names are nowhere to be found in the column. Leads one
to speculate if Dr. Patterson actually read the column or
was simply told about the column by a third party?
In our research and after carefully reading comments from
others, who have impressive credentials, we don't appear to
be the only one that has concluded Dr. Patterson's position,
at minimum, liens in the directional concept of the
"strong pastor" style of church governance.
No axe to grind here,
well maybe the animal killing part, but certainly not in the
context of what Dr. Patterson's position is, or is not, in
the matter of the pastor being the "unquestioned
ruler" of the church.

You
see the SBC controversy for what it is
Dear Editor,
Finally ... someone who sees the SBC controversy for what it is and has been able to boil it down in a nutshell version for simple understanding. Indeed, there is a fundamental difference in the leadership style of the Patterson era.
I have worked in churches in which that leadership style was desired (by the Pastor ... not the congregation) and know that it always leads to division. Somehow, it is always "baptized" by the Pastor to seem as if there is some giant favor being done for the Kingdom of God. The number of lives left in the ditch along the way ... an acceptable price for the desired power.
I just recently found your website and want you to know I am passing it on to others. Keep up the good investigative work and truthful reporting.

Not
surprised by Harber's behavior
Dear Editor -
I have been following your story on Frank Harber and am not surprised
by any of the behavior. The reason why? I am a member of the congregation that suffered under the rule of Danny Forschee and Michael Ray. FBCC - Although the quest for a new pastor may be hard and sometimes seem to be an uphill battle, God has blessed you with this man's resignation. Make sure that "all sin is out of your camp" and God will bless you with a true man of God. Editor - what happen to Danny and Michael? (they may be your "sin in the camp").

Courier Article
Nelson,
I read the article in the Courier (Thibodeaux Out of City
Positions) and I just wanted to drop you a quick note.
I recall thinking when I read the original July 28th article that is was nothing more that a news paper trying to make a story where there was none. It sounded a lot like one of those Sweeps week news stories that fabricate facts for the sake of good ratings.
It's a shame that community servants like you and you family so often fall prey to unethical reporters. I really salute you for sticking up for your values. Just know that we are not all so easily duped by a slick news story.

Courier
vs. LNO
Dear Editor: (email
was altered to include direct links to referenced columns)
I want to compliment you on an insightful column
concerning the resignation of Dr. Frank Harber. From what I can tell your research has likely exposed why the FBCC pastor became isolated and, in turn, out of touch with the very people he is supposed to serve.
LNO had great coverage and information not found with any other
source. You were the first to report on the FBCC troubles, the first to report the Hooter's deal, the first to report the land deal and the first to report Harber's resignation.. that is quite a record.
On a personal note, I also want to congratulate Nelson for the years he and his wife have served the City of Colleyville. The hatchet job by Scott Price,
at the Colleyville Courier, becomes even more self-evident when reading your column about this issue.
What is particularly telling is the side by side article and the notes by the Colleyville City Manager. It shows not only bias but deliberate
misrepresentations. I hope you sue their butts off.
Why the Star Telegram would buy this paper and then allow the crowd hired by the Donna Arp group to continue to run it like a local gossip column, is a real mystery.
Keep up to good work, I think your readership is more likely to get truthful news more quickly than any other local source.
I am also requesting you to withhold my name because I am a local business owner and, while the Courier is a joke, I don't want them targeting my business to
try to ruin. All those advertising in this paper should
consider what and who they are supporting with their hard
earned money.

Harber's
Resignation
Forgive Dr. Harber
I have attended FBCC for only a couple of months now. I have to share with you that it was Dr. Frank Harber's sermons that drew me in. The messages were honest and meaningful to me and my children. He was "real" when he shared about his boyhood and personal struggles. The sermons are what kept me returning to the church.
But how sad to learn of Dr. Harber's transgressions. I was disappointed in his actions, but watched the circus in awe and amazement. Shamefully I eagerly awaited each news byte as if it were a blockbuster movie unfolding day after day.
I am forgiving person, however, and I do hope that others in Christ will remember what Jesus always wanted us to do, "Forgive those who trespass against us." Things have a way of correcting themselves. The church will survive and likely be a much stronger fellowship than ever before. Dr. Harber will be forced to self examine and regroup so to speak, to find a new path. And in the end we have all learned some important things about life and what staying close to God means. The world is a dangerous place full of temptations that can lead to wrongdoings. Please forgive Dr. Harber and move on. Life's just too short to harbor any resentments.
Sincerely,

Harber's
Resignation
Need to be careful now
Well…we moved here in 2004. We left behind our church home for 30 years. Every single Baptist Church we have visited was going through some major controversy. If it wasn’t a pastor having an affair, it was money laundering, now it’s a pastor who made a couple of bad personal decisions (both of which were the icing on the cake) and whose vision was too much for a community town church.
There are so many churches these days that are run the very way Dr. Harber wanted to run
FBCC. This is not necessarily a bad thing…nor is it a good thing for churches who want to keep that community feel in their church. Frankly, I am saddened because I think that churches all over are just not what they used to be.
I am ashamed to say that I am in a generation who is a more selfish-minded generation. Now we are seeing it in our churches all over the country! It worries me for the future of our children who need their preacher to be a Godly example…and a servant leader. Pastors are human, and they make mistakes too, but there is a certain amount of “celebrity” status involved when you lead the public in any fashion. Pastors are no different, and they must be careful in their decisions…regardless of how innocent they may seem.
We found FBC Colleyville in March. We live in Keller. We began our time there just after the “Famous Four” were ousted. We did not know anything about the details of this situation until the end of May. We just thought Frank Harber was an excellent pastor. We loved the church services as well. My children were waiting to be baptized for when we found a church home since we had moved. I was raised, baptized, and married in my church, and so I did not want just any pastor baptizing my children We thought we had found our pastor ….so they were baptized in April. Now…….this nightmare has come to surface for Dr. Harber and the church. While my children’s salvation is safe, we are heart-sick that things have turned out this way.
I pray for Dr. Harber and his family. I pray he is humbled by this situation, and he becomes the man he is supposed to be in God’s eyes. I pray for this church and for their search for a new pastor. I also pray that the church has learned a big lesson from this as well. The “famous four” did not exactly behave in a very ethical or Godly way either. They may have had the last laugh, but they too should pray for their own hearts to be humbled. They have spoken too much over the last several months to others in the public, and it has spread. It has been damaging to our spirits.
I know many Christians, and most of them are wonderful…not perfect…but love the Lord, their neighbors, and pray for those who are lost. Their treatment of others through God’s love is electric.
On the other hand, there are people like a family in my neighborhood who treat others in our neighborhood and schools so rudely and poorly. They are the worst examples of what Christians are…yet they are in Church every single Sunday. They have a holier than though arrogant attitude but at church their Godliness surfaces….because they are in church. They have been some of the first to spread the gossip about
FBCC.
I just hope that members of FBCC will not become hypocrites while away from church in that they bad mouth the Harber’s, the church board or the church body to the public or fellow members and gloat about whose right and who was wrong. We have to all be very careful to keep our mouths closed and keep our eyes on the Lord for peace, wisdom, and strengthening of faith during this test in our faith and for this church.
Bottom line is…………
God is bigger that these “Famous Four”, He’s bigger than the Media, He’s bigger than Dr. Harber, and he’s bigger than Satan himself.
We must all band together and not be too quick to judge…but to forgive. Let us remember,
God will lead us through this…..He may be slow to answer, but He’s never too late!
Sincerely,
An Imperfect, Forgiven Christian

Harber's
Resignation
Dear Editor,
The "Leadership Board" must be scrutinized. How did Jim Bailey, Kelly Brown, Dick Schaulin, Jay Bray, Clark Lovrien, and Tom Law allow the situation to get to where we are today? Frank Harber selected these six men and he was not acting alone. The problem is deeper rooted than what has transpired in just the past few weeks.
To quote Mr. Joe Dupree, "A strong Board of Deacons should materialize and rebuild what is traditionally a First Baptist Church of any city." I endorse Mr. Dupree's comments 110% and I believe that anything less, will only result in history repeating itself.

There will be a lot of discussion now that Frank has resigned from FBBC.
First and foremost we need to be in prayer for the church and Frank.
Let us all pray for divine wisdom and guidance for FBCC and it's future.
Let us pray that Frank will seek God's Will and forgiveness and become a humble true servant of
God and that this will have a positive influence on his future.

Harber's
Resignation
We were members of FBCC for many years. We left because we felt that God was leading us away. We understand the heartache of all the people of FBCC and the feeling of betrayal on the part of Frank Harber and others involved in all the "mess" that has taken place since all the
commotion" broke about member dismissal etc.
We do not in any part think that things like this should happen in the "Body of Christ", but unfortunately it does. Now is not the time to start crucifying Pastor Harber and anyone involved in this. Now is the time for all of us who belong to the "Body of Christ" to join our hearts and hands and begin to pray without ceasing for the young Pastor, his family and the church in Colleyville.
We all have made major mistakes in our lives either out of stupidity or being misled by others, and Pastors are not exempt from the same thing.
My husband and I feel that it is time for everyone who has e-mailed petty, ungodly things about this church to stop and start
moving the "log out of our own eye" and begin to restore a young man who is in great need of forgiveness.
I always have to look at what Scripture says about anyone caught in sin. I believe the Word tells us that "whoever is without sin" cast the first stone. Please, in the name of Jesus, stop all the backstabbing and let us all hit our knees and begin to earnestly pray for this man and God's church in Colleyville.
We should join hands and begin to sincerely start praying for the young Pastor, his family and the members of
FBCC.
Name withheld because we are not without sin and will try starting out our day praying for this young family and
FBCC.

Resignation
I read the article
and I see how the news is trying to find a ''victim'' and this pastor
(Dr. Raymond Horne in Celina) is so eager to play the part. However has he ever stopped long
enough to think it really was never his property anyway. If it would have been
and he would have sold the property without doing his due diligence (sounds like that is what he did) then he should be fired for his stupidity. He got a piece of property for nothing (someone donated)
and someone gave his church $25,000. He was either stupid or part of the
deal. He should be rejoicing that his church got $25,000 for doing ''nothing'' instead of playing out the poor pitiful
"victim me" mindset.

Harber's
Resignation
I am a Christian and was a member of FBCC Colleyville, until the hair started coming up on the back of my neck, as I watched Frank make several (then minor) moves that I thought were self-centered and not reflective of Christ in any way, shape or form. My family left for another church when it appeared Frank was trying to become analogous to a one man rock band, leaving some good friends in the process.
We heard of many more formerly supportive members, some who helped bring Harber in, fleeing FBC Colleyville in droves, shortly after we left in 2005, especially after he unilaterally decided the church should move to the Texas Motor Speedway area and when he banished the "Colleyville Four".
The events of the last two months, well-covered by your articles, show my intuitions were not without merit. Although we won't be going back, I think it speaks well of the church itself, and the member's desire to serve God, that they (apparently) demanded Harber's resignation before he drove it into the ground with his ego.
Thanks for your dogged coverage. Pastors and teachers are held (biblically) to a higher standard that does not include tax fraud and Hooter's outings.

Ms
Harber is not the question
In reading the e-mails in LNO on August 15th I read an e-mail stating how wonderful Becky Harber is. . I know Becky and she is a Godly young woman. Becky, however is not the one in question. No one is doubting her honesty in all of this. It is the Pastor and his Leadership Board that have come under scrutiny. Not all Pastor's wives know the full extent of what goes on in the churches their husbands Pastor. I know of Pastors who choose not to involve the wives in order to protect them from anything that may become a problem. I think this is wise. Perhaps that is what Pastor Harber has done in order to protect Becky and their children.
I pray for this church and all that is going on. I feel that God has a purpose in what is going on. We, in our finite minds can not possible know, but one thing we all know is that God is still on the throne and can certainly get all this straightned out.
I pray that people will let God handle this in HIS own way and let us all get out of God's way.

Reader
Questions, "so what's the problem with Harber"
As a fairly new member of First Baptist Colleyville, I have some questions. I have no idea what the problem is.
Editor
replies to reader's questions.
First: What is the problem with Dr. Harber's salary? This church voted for it. In the small at First Baptist Groves, Tx with approximately 1,000 members the pastor makes approximately $80,000. If he can afford a new home, good for him.
The
only problem with Dr. Harber's salary, according to some
members , is that it should be made public to all members.
No member has ever confirmed that his salary was "voted
for" in an open session of church members. In
fact, specific questions concerning his salary have been
ignored. Members pointed out to LNO that Harber moved
his office out of the church so he is even more inaccessible
than previously, has frequent absences from the pulpit on
Sundays and when he in town he gives only 2 sermons (the
same) on Sunday with no other commitments. Harber is
well known for not taking time to visit members in hospitals
and he rarely does a funeral or a wedding. He went to
do a guest sermon in Hawaii and decided to take another
extra week to relax. He took time off to play in a Hooter's
Golf Tournament (finishing last), however, if he had made
the cut, he was committed to playing in the final round on
Sunday, not preaching to the flock in Colleyville.
Speculation is his work habits would not likely tolerated in
any traditional work environment.
Second: What is the land purchase that is under question?
The
land in question is the residential lot on Pleasant Run in
John Feagan's Castleton Manor. The lot is one of the
largest and is on the TAD valued at $75,000
unimproved. The estimated value is between $150,000 to
$200,000. Dr. Harber paid the Celina Baptist Church $25,000.
Third: I disagree with his playing in a "Hooters golf tournament". But who knows why he
was there? Are you the judge and jury?
According
to Harber's quotes in the Joplin, Missouri newspaper, he was
in the tournament to try to win because he had taken lessons
from a gifted professional for the past week.
Fourth: I have listened to Dr Harber week upon week. My 86 year old mother and I go every Sunday. We are not in the inner circle of this church but I know in my heart Dr Harber is speaking the word of God. My life has changed drastically and all for the better since attempting to live the live he speaks of. I think Dr Harber has proven himself as a spiritual leader.
Whether
Dr. Harber is or is not proven as a spiritual leader is
outside the realm of factual articles this news site has
published.
I personally feel like the email read earlier today there are people that are "getting their toes stepped on" and cannot do any thing except strike blame. I had the opportunity to meet Becky Harber at the church wide picnic and she is such a lovely caring person.
We are
not sure what the "toes stepped on" reference
means, however we have often written about 4 well-known
Colleyville citizens, some of which were members for many
years who had the membership terminated by Dr. Harber's
request.
Please do not return emails to me at my home as I do not care to spend my time reading garbage. But I do in fact hope Dr Harber reads this to know there are people in this church that thank him and back him 100%.
We are
still awaiting those who have accused LNO of putting out
"garbage" to specifically correct any factual
errors. We also hope Dr. Harber reads this because we
once again invite Dr. Harber to take the opportunity to
clear up any misconceptions or correct factual errors in any
article concerning FBCC or himself. We invite Dr.
Harber to freely minister to the readers of LNO through a
weekly column, unedited, to be prominently posted on this
news site.
This is a sincere offer we feel is much more in line with
Christian principles, than the type of attacks LNO and its
Editor have been the recipient of from
"supporters" of Dr. Harber.
Thank you for listening.
Thank
you

Messenger LNO is the real problem..doing the work of the
devil
As predicted in the Bible, any church or church body that succeeds in their
soul winning missions will be attacked by those who do the work of the
devil. It does not surprise me that LNO expresses anger and bitterness at
being dismissed because of the National Enquirer type of false impression
journalism drives LNO to condemn the ones who dismisses this ridiculous
gossip/slander news organization. It does not surprise me that the so called
news LNO writes is being spread because we are told that the good would be
slandered and attacked in the attempt to stop their good works. The pathetic
attempt to discredit a hard working Christian Pastor is an openly blatant
attack out of sheer retribution for not giving validity to the LNO gossip
column. Those who choose to stay and support that brave young man have
chosen to not give LNO the time of day because LNO is simply not worth their
effort. Go ahead with the slander type attacks and the so called news
articles riddled with opinions, accusations, impressions and bitterness. It
will only fuel the passion of the Christians out there that know the devil
and his minions want to put a stop to an effective evangelism. I applaud
them for not talking to LNO and spending their valuable time on lost souls
instead of personal attacks.
Will the FBCC ever acknowledge LNO? I hope they stand by their convictions
and stay away from a personal communication, as that will only make them
look like the better person for not stooping to a low level. The mission of
any good Christian will be ridiculed and attacked but what do attacks matter
as long as souls are being saved. I will pray for LNO and those who believe
your stories without verifying them. Mostly I will pray for that Pastor to
remain strong against those who wish to stop him from his work. I applaud
the faithful Christians who do not judge based on a strangers word and those
who stand by the good works of their Pastor who has proven himself an
effective soul winner and evangelist.
I see LNO freely publishes any email that supports the LNO one sided
attacks, plaster them all over the 'front page', highlight and advertise
them as justification of personal attacks, will LNO publish this one too?
Will LNO put this one on the 'front page'? Will LNO add one of the familiar
high and mighty replies of justification under it? Or will LNO ignore it and
continue the endless justification of attacking hard working Christian
pastors who obviously know better then to try to tell LNO what the real
story is?
I have witnessed that when someone sends an email that does not agree with
LNO that they are harassed by email. I know personally one email address that
received email arguments and attachments even though it was requested/demanded to stop emailing them many times. It makes me afraid to
leave my name and location because I don't want to be next on the hit list.
I will, of course, expect your response, but I don't want an email argument
going on. You have your opinion plastered everywhere as well as others, I
should be able to give mine without retribution.

Thank you for reading LNO. Management of LNO is neither
angry or bitter. Dr. Harber does not acknowledge any
local media, while he did give quotes to a Joplin, Missouri
newspaper about his Hooters Golf Tournament activity. LNO continues to offer Dr. Harber the opportunity to
respond, without edit, at anytime, and we will link it to

LNO, are still protected by the First Amendment.

Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, Bob Tilton, Swaggert, Benny
Hinn, now Frank Harber?
A smart man once said that “those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it”. Has everyone at First Baptist Colleyville forgotten Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, “Brother Bob” Tilton, Jimmy Swaggert and Benny
Hinn? Perhaps it is time to add Frank Harber’s name to this select group.
One problem with stupid people is that they assume that everyone around them is stupid also. It doesn’t take a genius to connect the dots in this puzzle. If this were money, instead of real estate, it would be called “laundering”. This is all too convenient that Kevin Landis from the Cowboy Church (if it really is a church) outside of Celina, is a former member of FBCC and has close ties to Frank Harber. Also seemingly convenient is the relationship between John Fegan and the empty trustee position at
FBCC. These transactions were clearly pre-meditated and an attempt to circumvent
I.R.S. law. It is a shame there is not an I.R.S. Auditor in the congregation; as it seems that FBCC clearly violates the laws pertaining to “not for profit organizations”.
Dementia among Colleyville residents and some church members seems to have reached epidemic proportions when you consider comments like, “I don’t speak to the media” from Frank Harber. “What does that have to do with me?” from John
Fegan. I suspect that this particular strain of dementia has found its way into Collin County, for if Dr. Horn had his accountant check this; he would have obviously found the requirements for appraisals, and
I.R.S. forms related to donations.
I, like many others, perceived to be stupid by Frank Harber can only hope that Dr. Horn’s quote, “…..hope to meet Frank Harber in jail” is soon realized.
While sitting in church on Sunday, these people should not fear the wrath of the
I.R.S. or even those of us who know the difference between right and wrong….they should be thinking about who they will ultimately have to answer to.
I found the following quotes from Mr. Harber, (who in my opinion should not be referred to as Pastor) on the internet.
He warned, “There’s no room in the kingdom of God for this holier than thou stuff. That’s what the Pharisees were like.”
Similarly, Harber said, “Some of the meanest people you could ever find in this world go to church every Sunday,” hiding behind the religion of Christianity.
"I'm the pastor, and the buck stops with me," he said. "I get both the blame and the credit for what happens because I am accountable for direction, but I want to be the player on this team who gets the assist."
I have always liked this quote and I guess Frank Harber and his groupies agree….

FBCC Pastor Frank Harber..body guards and Hooter Golf
Tournaments?
Mr. Jolley, your email is right on target about the continuing trouble at First Baptist Church Colleyville!
The missing last name for "Clark", who is a member of the Leadership Board, is "Lovrien".
He is the person who told an adult Sunday school class that FBCC had been sued. Not true! This statement is completely false! Since he is relatively new to the leadership corps he must have obtained this information from other leaders.
Mr. Jolley, you and other readers may be interested in other goings-on at the church.
Dr. Harber has hired a bodyguard! Why? Who is paying for his services?
Dr. Harber's recent participation in a golf tournament sponsored by Hooters raises the question of who is paying his expenses to participate in these kind of events or for golf fees when he plays at Timarron and elsewhere?
I hope expenses for golf and the bodyguard are not paid from tithes and offerings of members as this would not be responsible stewardship of their gifts.
Thank you for your awareness of problems at FBCC and sharing your concerns.

FBCC Rumors
The following is edited from a series of emails where the
author has asked the name not be revealed..verified via
email contact. Edited by permission.
It is interesting to keep reading what is going on and that a pastor could be allowed to do the things Frank is getting away with. I was appalled to say the least about his attendance at a Hooters golf tournament. Like
xxxx said, why is no one from the church calling him out on this? I said I will if I ever see him--I am certainly not afraid of him. He can't kick me out of the church since I don't belong in the first place.
XXX had heard last night that Nelson Thibodeaux is related to
Joe Deupree, Skip, Mattson, Danny Walker, or Patsy Smith. Is that true or something someone has made up? It really doesn't matter to me as he is telling the news like it is. I was just wondering if someone has started a rumor to try and "save Frank" so to speak.
Editor's
Note: Nelson Thibodeaux is not related to any of
the four mentioned, most
certainly the attempt was to impugn the integrity of one, or
all, of the four by inferring at least one of them is
somehow related to the Publisher of LNO. Using the
Thibodeaux name in an attempt to create an adverse lighting
rod impact has been tried by others with a disconnect from
the truth. On
the other hand, being related to any of these four
individuals, all who have stood firmly in their beliefs,
could be worn like a badge of courage. Told that
Thibodeaux, was not fortunate enough to be related, the
author writes:
Thanks for clearing that up for me. Just as I thought--I don't know why people think that lying is going to make everything better. Frank
(Harber) has been preaching on the ten commandments lately, and this Sunday is going to be the last one.
Xxxx heard the one on lying, and Frank told that it is okay to lie sometimes. He gave examples of people in the Bible who had lied to protect someone else. I said to
xxxx, God did NOT say "thou shalt not lie, EXCEPT..." Where does Frank get off telling people sin is
okay? And his attending the Hooters golf tournament sure doesn't look like a man of God to me! As disheartened and appalled as I am with this man and his standards, I can't imagine how God must be hurting.

More Frank Harber observations
I’ve visited with you on the phone a few times, months ago. Thought I would share another little tidbit. Frank said that “He actually happened upon the church while looking for a housing development in the highly affluent community” (or later a golf course)
Dr. Ken Hemphill preached at FBC many times prior to Frank, as he said, “happened” upon the Church. At the same time, Frank and Ken were partners in the GOT LIFE web site. I guess Ken, as Frank’s partner, never told Frank that he was preaching at FBC every Sunday for a number of weeks. I also guess Ken never told Frank that FBC didn’t have a pastor and that they were searching for one?? It’s worth noting that Frank referred to Ken as his “mentor” a number of times from the pulpit. Maybe they just had a bad communication problem.

Frank Harber quotes and the FBCC fiasco.
Dear Sir:
I too like Mr. Martin grew tired of reading about the FBCC fiasco but for FBCC leadership to completely ignore the LNO readership as well as direct responses to FBCC outside of LNO leaves me to conclude that: (1) Mr. Harber and his crew thinks that ignoring the problem will make it go away much like the way a child would think, (2) Their lawyer has put them under non-disclosure (though I think that unlikely) but at least the lawyer should have committed back to LNO by now, or (3) Their lack of response indicates that they don’t have a suitable argument for the case against them - in other words, FBCC is guilty as charged by a jury of their peers as deemed by the LNO readership and the community at large and around the world.
Since my interest has been renewed in this situation, I thought I would do a little research and summarize my findings. I believe the following quotes supplied by Mr. Harber should give us all cause for concern whether you are an presently an FBCC member, a former FBCC member, considering becoming an FBCC member, or an innocent outsider:
The following quotes come from the website article
"I had no pastoral experience when I came here," he said, "but I started off like I knew what I was doing."
"I've been ADD since I was a kid; I am hyper, driven," Harber said. "I am in my element here. The work is never done; nobody can do the job. But it's a privilege. I would do it for free."
"I had never pastored before, had never wanted to be a pastor, and this church had been a victim of infighting and a declining budget and its facilities were in bad shape," Harber explained.
My comments: Perhaps Mr. Harber would do well to remember what he has said himself which is that EGO stands for Edging God Out. Since Mr. Harber has indicated he would do it free, perhaps he should since it has been noted that his salary is in excess of $205,000. I envy his salary and wished mine was only one fourth of his. Did that boost in salary come from some of those he has “EdGed Out” because they failed to agree with his megalomaniacal ways? I have another acronym for Mr. Harber to add to his vocabulary, PRIDE. In Mr. Harber’s world, PRIDE stands for Prepare Resume Immediately, Dismissal Expected. It appears to me that the church is still a victim of infighting more recently brought about by Mr. Harber’s tactics.
Perhaps a more revealing comment from Mr. Harber is found on the website located
at this website.
"I don't think I've ever fit the preacher mold," he said.
My comment: Based on how you and your recently elected SWAT team have been behaving, I would have to agree with your very words sir.
Lastly, Mr Harber has some nicknames for himself that you can view at the FBCC
church website.
“Hurricane Harber”, “Frank the Tank”, “Harbertown”
My comments: What is up with Mr. Harber’s picture at the top of every webpage? Does HE have a problem with EGO - Edging God Out? And what about Frank the Tank for an alias? Does that imply that he likes to roll over those that don’t agree with him? Don’t let your cats near him either, he mentions on his webpage biography that he dislikes cats.
Would the real Mr Harber please stand up for a change and exert some courage rather than hiding behind your lawyer and your SWAT team made up of Kelly Brown, Richard Schaulin, Tom Law, Jay Bray, Jim Bailey, and Clark Somebody? That last name was really hard to read on the letter LNO printed and perhaps this person did that on purpose.
Decidedly Disgusted,
R. Jolley

Quite frankly, the events at this church in Colleyville have been an embarrassment
not only to the city of Colleyville, but more importantly to Christianity.
Editor:
Having read numerous articles about the events at First Baptist Church Colleyville, I thought things had perhaps become better. The decision at FBCC to remove four members from membership for asking financial questions was
unbelievable and unlike anything I have ever heard of. I just wanted to quit reading about the fiasco at First Baptist Church Colleyville. Now, I read, with somewhat amazement, that the pastor; Dr. Frank Harber, chose to play in a
Hooters sponsored golf tournament. What a lack of judgment-regardless of how much one might like to play golf? Regardless of where Dr Harber is, he represents the members at First Baptist Church Colleyville. My real question
is... who is in charge at First Baptist Church Colleyville? Are you deacons; are you elders, are you members of a board? And, members of the church; why are you not requesting stronger judgment and basic common sense from your
pastor? Who are you and where are you? Whoever you are, I ask you, why have you allowed the ridiculous, on-going events at FBCC to reach such a point? And, I have one other question, does your denomination not have a higher
authority who works in an advisory capacity to address concerns of churches and their pastors? Certainly, your church needs something---Some strong intervention or counsel from someone. I just do not understand! Quiet frankly, the events at this church in Colleyville have been an embarrassment not only to the city of Colleyville, but more importantly to Christianity.

Can Dr. Harber prove FBCC is"fast growing church
of 5,000"
Dear Editor,
I have just read, in your letters to editor section, a recent letter from Kevin Love. I do not know Mr. Love but he is the type person that I would enjoy meeting.
He is evidently a person who thinks for himself as evidenced by his statement “So I am left to wonder, which is it, was Frank house-hunting OR golf-course-hunting OR church-pastor-hunting”. I am sure that some other people are also wondering the same thing but they are reluctant to ask questions. What is the real truth?
Mr. Love might also ask about the quote in the Joplin newspaper article describing FBCC as “a fast-growing Dallas-area Baptist church of 5,000 members”. Can Dr. Harber prove this statement or is it just another exaggeration? The local media and other sources seems to indicate that membership is closer to 3000. Again, Dr. Harber, why the exaggeration?
Finally I would like to endorse Mr. Love’s statement concerning Local News Only. Mr. Love said, “I applaud your courage for telling the truth. Nothing I have read thus far in *any* of your articles, contradicts what we experienced while we were members there.”
May I also add my applause and congratulate LNO for “telling it like it is”.
Absolutely Amazed,

This
former FBCC member says LNO has got it right
Dear Editor,
I read the Joplin Globe newspaper article with great interest. One thing to
note in the article was this statement: "He was heading for a golf course,
got lost and stopped at the church in Colleyville."
My family and I were at a Sunday morning service where Frank said from the
pulpit that he was house-hunting and got lost, so he stopped by the church
for directions to the home he was trying to find. He said this again
another time in a side conversation with a perspective member he was talking
with about golf (no less) as well as other topics.
So I am left to wonder, which is it, was Frank house-hunting OR
golf-course-hunting OR church-pastor-hunting???
I applaud your courage for telling the truth. Nothing I have read thus far
in *any* of your articles, contradicts what we experienced while we were
members there.
A former member ashamed to mention to others that his family ever attended

Senior
Baptist Minister writes Colleyville Baptist Frank Harber
Dear Editor:
Enclosed you will find a copy of the letter I sent to Dr. Frank Harber, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Colleyville, Texas on June 22, 2006 via postal service and also by email. Even though I did not nor do I expect any response to me, I am stunned by the shamed silence of Pastor Harber to the members of FBCC and the Colleyville
community.
I am also curious as to why none of the Southern Baptist Leadership have come forth to give direction as to what the Holy Scriptures has to say regarding circumstances such as these. I have spoken to several pastors who (in private) disagree with the methods Pastor Harber used leading to this conflict, but who will not speak publicly. Often, their excuse is ‘professional ethics.’ My concern is not how right one may be ethically; if he is in opposition to the Word of God (Bible) then he is wrong. As people of faith, we need to form together and stand up for what we believe and for what the Bible has taught us to do in situations such as these. Pastor Harber needs to be held accountable.

you must be receiving addressing the ministry concerns of
First Baptist Church Colleyville.
I want you to know that as a senior brother in the
ministry I am praying for you, your family, staff and the
congregation of FBCC.
Dr.
Harber, I applaud you in your personal achievements as a
man. Your
credentials are impressive.
You should be proud.
God has afforded you many blessings only few men can
imagine. I have
had the opportunity to hear you preach on a couple of
occasions. Again,
I was impressed, you are a good speaker.
Having said that, may I share my heart and concerns
with you pertaining to the ministry of FBCC and the Lord’s
work?
Dr. Harber, the on-goings of what is happening in FBCC has
reached far beyond the city and community of Colleyville,
Texas. Since
this has gotten outside the church congregation, it has
spread across the nation.
I have heard of this on my travels to Alaska,
Michigan, Arkansas, and Tennessee down to Florida. My
concerns stem from my community interaction for which I have
served as a chaplain for the past 5 years.
Dr.
Harber, many of your brothers in the ministry are saying
what is happening in your church is appalling!
By far, we are in agreement that you have made a
grave error in judgment in dealing with this situation.
This reminds us of a man mentioned in 3-John 1:9 by
the name of “Diotrephes”, who loved to have the
preeminence over the people of the church.
While this is found in men who are members of
today’s church, it is hurtful to find this character trait
in one of our fellow pastors.
The community, the people and the church body are
deeply hurt by your decision and actions regarding this
matter. Logically,
this must affect you, your family, your ministry, your staff
as well as the leadership board and their families. There was one of God’s servants, greater than we, who made
a grave error in his life, then he confessed to God and ask
for the ”joy of his salvation” (ministry) to be
restored. May I
encourage you to consider a Godly way to restore this
ministry (fellowship to the congregation) would be to
personally meet with those involved and resolve this matter.
This is a time when the pastor and church body need to come
together as one.
My
continued prayers are with you and the church body.
God
Bless,
Yours
in Christ
Ken

Colleyville Turtles
Howdy,
Thank you for providing coverage of our fun in the mud. While there was definitely a turtle ready to snap, the only type of turtle gathered today were red ear sliders.
Given all the stir about snapping turtles I thought I ought to let you know that the specimen featured on the 6th row of photos is also a slider.
A good day chasing turtles is better than one in the office anytime!
Feel free to contact me should you have any questions regarding amphibians and reptiles.

Note: I was afraid of that, but while the biologists
were frolicking in the mud, layman on the banks of the pond
were guessing about this turtle. However, this is most
definitely a "snapping" red ear slider!

Alligator Turtles
I know it is questioned whether a Alligator Snapping Turtle is living the Colleyville pond. My son and I have witnessed an Alligator Snapping Turtle in the lake behind our house in Southlake. Even an A/C repairman working on our unit walked to the back to take a view of the lake and monster came up for air. The repairman was very startled. In fact it is a bit unnerving to see this creature for the first time because its head is huge. We have never gotten a good view of the shell although the ridges are evident. So we do not know just how big the turtle may be.
I am not revealing where we live other than the city because we do not want to advertise where this turtle lives. But live he does...
Proof Alligator Turtles are in our area

Any updates on the Alligator Turtle/s???
LNO article June 27, 2006
Jeannie Lohse
Editor's Note: The latest media
comments, to our knowledge, was an article in the Grapevine
Sun dated July 6, 2006 stating..... Yet,
even though the area appears unsuitable for an alligator
snapping turtle and no one has actually reported seeing one,
the story just won't seem to go away. The article
continued with a quote from Mona Gandy stating "It's
like a fish tale, now everyone's telling their big turtle
story, some of which are years and whole other locations
removed."

What is going to be built at the Old City Hall location on Bransford
and Oak Valley Dr. They bulldozed it down today.

Note: The following response was from Colleyville City
Manager Bill Lindley
There are no current plans for the use of the site of the former City Hall. The City will be evaluating potential options for the property this next year which would include either redevelopment for City use or sale of the property. As the City progresses through the study, we will have an opportunity for input on various options from property owners in the immediate area. We are removing the building and adjoining parking lot area following a determination that the condition of the building would not be suitable for renovations. Additionally, with the building sitting vacant, it would have a detrimental impact to the homes in the immediate area. Due to the drought conditions, we will defer seeding the area till this fall to allow for cooler weather and rain.

Concerning the TxDOT Cameras At Intersections in Colleyville
Big Brother has arrived in Colleyville.
Tom Lisle
Editor's
Note: The following response was from Colleyville City
Manager Bill Lindley to the LNO article of the AG's decision
I enjoyed reading your update on the recent State Attorney General opinion concerning the State installing red light cameras on highways posted on LNO today. As you know, over the last few months we have received inquires concerning the installation of cameras at various intersections of SH26. The thought by citizens has been that these cameras are for the police being able to issue tickets for motorists running red lights. I certainly appreciated a few weeks ago LNO being so helpful in advising readers that the cameras are for only vehicle management by TxDOT for timing sequences of the traffic lights.
With the recent AG opinion, it may be helpful for you to let your readers know that the City of Colleyville does not have any plans at this time to either request the Highway Department, or for us to install, red light cameras at our traffic intersections. We will be monitoring any discussions, assuming they would, by the Highway Department concerning the installation of the equipment along SH26. Again, I appreciate your keeping the readers of LNO informed on this community topic.
