-
Restore
Fiscal Responsibility - We should not initiate projects
until we have the tax base to support the project.
If that means waiting a few years for a City Hall,
so be it.
-
Improve
SH 26 - work with TxDOT as the design of the roadway is
developed. The final desing will add a third lane in each direction and
a landscaped median to enhance the appearance and improve
safety and efficiency of traffic movement.
-
Improve
parks and access to parks for all citizens - provide
sidewalks for access to parks and provide amenities such
as walking trails and play equipment.
-
Encourage
Quality Commercial Development - build upon and expand
existing businesses and recruit new businesses that will
enhance the quality of life in Colleyville.
-
Improve
Safety of Streets - Establish program to identity and
remove roadside hazards.
Provide sidewalks and strictly enforce traffic
regulations (stop signs and speed limits). Avoid developing new streets that will encourage speeding in
residential areas.
-
Improve
Infrastructure - Provide water, drainage and sewer
infrastructure to meet the needs of existing citizens as
well as new development.
-
Library
for the Citizens of Colleyville - Develop a facility that
will serve the diverse needs of our young children,
teenagers, young adults and adults with out breaking the
bank. Our
neighboring cities spend between 3 and 5 percent of their
budgets on library services.
This equates to about $400k per year for
Colleyville. We
should not exceed this figure until our tax base will
allow us to.
-
Police
Station and Courts Facility - Complete the police station
that will allow the police department to better serve the
citizens of Colleyville, hire and retain the best
officers, and be an integral part of the community.
-
Participate
in Regional decision making processes to solve local
problems such as traffic congestion and fire protection.
-
I
will seek and listen to input, consider the facts of each
case, and act in the best interest of all citizens of
Colleyville.

BUILD THE LIBRARY - The time
for talking is over. Many people have donated countless
hours to the construction of a library. It is time we
reward their efforts. We need to build our library
without any further delay or excuses.
- OPPOSE WIDER ROADS - Wider
roads will not benefit our citizens, but will only create
more traffic by creating an avenue for people to cut
through our city. We can widen intersections where
necessary to accommodate "rush hour" traffic
without diminishing our property values.
- EXPAND OUR PARK SYSTEM - We
are quickly reaching a point in our development where all
the land will be taken. If we do not acquire sufficient
park land, it will be gone forever. Our citizens and our
youth sports associations need additional park land. The
solution is not to take space from one youth association
and dedicate it to another. As a city we need to acquire
land sufficient for all associations. In addition, we need
to acquire sufficient land and right-of-ways to allow us
to broaden our hike and bike trails.
- OPPOSE BIG BOX BUSINESSES -
We have limited commercial space. As a city, we need to
insure the businesses which come to our city enhance our
tax base and are quality businesses which are desired by
the majority of our citizens.
- OPPOSE ANY TAX INCREASE - We
have not had a tax increase in the last 4 years. If we
continue to develop our city wisely, through upscale
residential projects and appropriate commercial
developments, we will be able to maintain our current tax
rate without any increases.
- EXPAND OUR SENIOR PROGRAMS -
As our city population matures, it is necessary to look to
expanding our city programs for seniors. I will seek input
from our seniors in order to pursue expansion of programs
which they deem desirable.
- DEVELOP A MASTER PLAN TO
PRESERVE OUR RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY - As the availability of
land decreases, we are faced with increasing efforts to
diminish the rural atmosphere of our city. I support the
development of a Master Residential Plan, to preserve
those areas of the city which currently maintain our rural
atmosphere. I further support a plan to develop an
adequate buffer between existing residential property and
future commercial development.
