The
successes of five former Keller High School students who
are graduating from U.S. military academies this year
have prompted Keller ISD counselors to host the
district’s first Armed Services Night from 6 – 8
p.m. Nov. 6 at Keller High School.
“We recognized the importance of telling our students
about the accomplishments of our academy graduates and
other opportunities in the military,” said Keller High
School Principal Randy Baker as he explained how the
idea of Armed Services Night developed. “We are very
proud of those five Keller graduates.
“We also have had recruiters from the different
branches of the military giving us good information
about all kinds of opportunities available for our
students,” Baker said.
“Thousands of dollars and countless hours of training
are offered to students through the military. College
ROTC programs also are great resources for those who
plan to continue their education after high school.”
Representatives of West Point and the Air Force, Coast
Guard, Merchant Marine and Naval Academies will be
present at Armed Services Night. Recruiters from each
branch of the military and ROTC representatives from
major universities also will meet with students and
parents.
The Keller High School alumni who are graduating this
year from military academies are: Spencer Baker, West
Point; Adam Green, U.S. Naval Academy; Mac McGilvray,
U.S. Force Academy; Cari Murtaugh, U.S. Naval Academy;
and John Strickland, Merchant Marine Academy.
Keller High School is located at 601 Pate-Orr Dr. in
