Winter
holiday schedule resumes for district
Winter Holidays for
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD students begin Monday, Dec. 24 and students
will return to classes on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002. GCISD’s
Administration building will be closed from Dec. 24 until Friday, Jan.
4. Teachers return to campuses on Monday, Jan. 7, 2002.
Students
need real-world experiences
With the help of the community,
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD students will celebrate Groundhog Job Shadow
Day on Friday, Feb. 1, 2001, a day dedicated to giving young people
across America career-related experiences. Job-shadowing enables
students to shadow a workplace mentor through a normal day on the job,
providing an up-close look at how the skills learned in school are put
into action in the workplace. The program is sponsored by the GCISD
Partners in Excellence Council, in cooperation with Junior Achievement.
Each year millions of students
and tens of thousands of businesses come together to share the lessons
learned in the world of work. A few hours of volunteer time may open a
window for a young person in the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. It can begin
to provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their
dreams.
More than 250 spaces are needed.
To volunteer your business on groundhog shadow day, please contact Louise
Henry, director of development and community relations, at 817.251-5481
or e-mail her at louise.henry@gcisd.net.
