City of Colleyville Board and Commission Positions Available

Positions on the Colleyville Zoning Board of Adjustments, Planning & Zoning Commission, Economic Development Corporation, and the Crime Control and Prevention District are currently available.  Applications will be accepted through Friday, August 24, 2001, at 4:30 p.m.  Members whose terms are expiring are eligible for re-appointment, but must reapply.

Three positions are currently available on the Planning and Zoning Commission.  This commission approves plans for subdivisions and makes recommendations to the City Council on rezoning of land and on amendments to the City development regulations.  The commission meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.  The regular terms of office are for a period of two years.  Commissioners whose terms are expiring in September include Luann Edwards, Tom Hart and Brian Hill.

There are also three positions available on the Zoning Board of Adjustment.  The ZBA acts on requests for variances and special exceptions under the City's Zoning Ordinance.  They meet on the second Tuesday of each month and terms of office are for two years.  Members whose terms are expiring in September include Larry Henry, Dee McNosky and Jerry Birkes.

The Colleyville Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) has three positions available at this time.  The Corporation promotes economic development within the City.  The Board meets annually on the second Tuesday in September and may schedule special meetings as necessary.  Terms of office are for two years.  This seven-member board is comprised of four city council members and three citizens.  The citizens whose terms are expiring at this time are Dennis Johnson, Ron Adams and Gary Cantrell.

One position is currently available on the Colleyville Crime Control and Prevention District Board.  The District is supported by a half-cent sales tax approved by the voters in January 1999.  The Directors propose an annual budget to the City Council and serve for a two year term.   Citizen C. L. (Smoky) Vanover's term is expiring in September.

Anyone interested in serving on any of these committees can obtain an application from Cynthia Singleton, City Secretary, 5400 Bransford Road (City Hall), 817-577-7575, ext. 203 or email singletonc@ci.colleyville.tx.us.
