isd events regarding the national day of remembrance (september 14,
2001)
-
The
President has declared Friday, Sept.14 as a National Day of Prayer
and Remembrance.
-
Carroll
ISD has decided to continue with all events scheduled for Friday.
-
We
believe it is important to provide students with a sense of safety
by maintaining normal routines.
-
We
also consulted with other DFW school districts, and those districts
are planning to hold their events, as well.
-
Many
students and staff will wear red, white and blue, and/or will wear
ribbons throughout the day.
-
The
school day will begin at each campus with a moment of silence in
honor of those injured and killed in the tragedy in our nation.
-
Flags
will continue to fly at half staff at all CISD locations through
Sunday, Sept. 16 by order of Texas Governor Rick Perry.
-
A
time of remembrance, including a moment of silence, is planned by
Highland Park ISD during pre-game activities. American flags will be
distributed by HPISD to everyone in attendance.
-
Several
CISD student and parent groups are organizing support efforts,
including Coins for Care at Eubanks Intermediate and Carroll Junior
High Schools, and a Beggin’ for Bears Teddy Bear Drive at all CISD
schools now through Sept. 21.
-
All
Dragon fans are invited to come see the CMS/CJHS 7th
grade football game on Wednesday, September 19 at 5 p.m. in the new
Dragon Stadium. Instead of charging admission, the PALS (Peer
Assistance Leadership Skills) organizations from both schools will
be taking cash and check donations to the American Red Cross. The
press box side of the stadium will open at 4:30 p.m., as will the
Dragon’s Den shop and the concession stand.
-
Our
national leaders have resolved not to allow this event to change our
way of life or restrict our freedoms. We believe our decisions
reinforce that resolve.
