Dateline: Colleyville - October 11, 2001 3:41 PM The Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce held their monthly luncheon on October 4th at Colleyville Christian Fellowship church. The Colleyville Heritage High School choir sang a medley of songs before the program began.
The new members were also introduced and had the opportunity to tell a little about themselves and their business.
Before the speaker was introduced, Expo 2001 was discussed. The event will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2001 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Colleyville Christian Fellowship. Also discussed was the Fall Trash Off that will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 9:00 AM at the Colleyville City Park. There will also be a golf tournament on Monday, October 29th to benefit teachers in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. For additional information on any of the events, call the Chamber at 817-488-7148.
Ginny Tigue also discussed the Book and Author Luncheon to be held on October 24, 2001 benefiting the Friends of the Public Library of Colleyville, Grapevine and Southlake. Guest authors will be: Tony Hillerman, Peter Straub, Richard Paul Evans, Max Lale, Dan Jenkins and Amanda Dunbar.
The member and business of the month was also announced. The member of the month was Phoebe Dill and the business of the month was Raman Chandler. Also recognized was Balloon Tycoon who provided all of the balloons for this months luncheon.
The speaker this month was Major Clayton A. Church. Major Church is the Chief, Public Affairs, 301st Fighter Wing, an Air Force Reserve wing at NAS Fort Worth JRB, Fort Worth, Texas.
Major Church spoke on the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth. He gave an update on overall military units assigned and the guard and reserve forces that are trained and ready. He gave insight into what we can do as individuals and businesses to support our friends and neighbors who will be on active duty.
