Former Mayor and Councilman Richard Newton is announced as the unofficial winner with 51% of the vote

Newton said he looks forward to serving on city council again.  He stated that he felt his grass roots campaign had an uphill fight against Colleyville's entrenched political machine.  Newton said he was inspired by the volunteers in the effort and feels council will represent a broader base of citizens.

Mayor Arp said that Newton's win was not a mandate and that  considering Newton's previous service on council that she thought it was amazing how well Jo Ann Gasper did in the election.

A large crowd gathered at the Lonesome Dove Ranch to celebrate the overwhelming victory of 3007 For and only 129 Against

As a result of legislation introduced by State Representative Vicki Truitt allowing a city, located in more than one county, to determine its own initiative in wine sales, the voters of Southlake approved the issue by more than a 94% margin.
