The
Colleyville Lion's Club presented checks in the total of $15,250 to
five charities at its regular Friday morning meeting November 9,
2001. Frank Carroll, the Sponsorship Chairman made the
presentation. The third annual X-Sightment Run raised over
$20,000 for charities. Louis Miller, a Melvin Jones recipient,
was instrumental in the concept and has chaired the event every
year.

Miss Ivy Green has
started in the leader dog orientation. Ivy's lineage is from
the leader dog program started at the ancestral home of Helen
Keller. The average cost to train a leader dog for the blind
is $25,000. The Lion's Club presents the trained animals to
those in need at no charge.

The Colleyville Lion's
Club also announced the effort of the Eyeglass Recycle Committee,
chaired by Jon Niemczyk, has resulted in a total of 40 collection
locations and the gathering of more than 4,000 pairs of eyeglasses
since January 2001. The eyeglasses are recycled and provided
to the needy in the US and Internationally.
