GOLDIE'S IN THE VILLAGE OF COLLEYVILLE OPENS..ITS A FAMILY AFFAIR

Goldie's Opens in Village

After 23 years in the pharmaceutical business, Chris Foy has opened his first restaurant in the Village of Colleyville.  Chris and wife Susan live in Mill Creek Estates with their five children.

Chris said that his 13 year old triplets, Melissa, Allyson and Clark, are all working side by side in the restaurant.  10 year old Chad also helps out and his 7 year old, Cameron has been asking when he will get a chance to help his Dad.

Chris said he took early retirement and decided to undertake the entrepreneurial effort.

First day customers included Jamie, Raven and Skye Thibodeaux ordering the flame broiled burgers.

Goldie's currently has 22 restaurants, with 20 in Oklahoma, 1 in Arkansas and the newly opened unit in Colleyville.  Chris said his operation seats 160 and employs 55.  Among the employees are a number of local high school students, including students from Faith Christian, Richland and Grapevine High School.

Chris said he was already familiar with Goldie's that has operated for 40 years.  He looked at a number of sites in the area including Keller and Grapevine before deciding on the Village location.

The interior has a distinctive Texas flavor.

Chris said his selection of the Village location was influenced by its close proximity to City Park.  In addition, he said that living close by gives him a hands on approach he feels is necessary to maintain the type of quality he is committed.

Chris said he looked at the Southlake Town Center and was impressed by its success. While on a smaller scale, Chris said he hopes the Village will enjoy similar success.

Chris indicated that he also likes the Village concept, especially because of the unique ownership structure.  He actually owns the first floor of the building.  Chris said that the scenario is similar to a condo agreement where he owns his area but not the ground the building is located.  The upper floors in the building may be owned by others.

Chris owns the franchise rights to Goldie's for the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
