COLLEYVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT INTRODUCES TRADING CARDS The Kids and Cops program is a nationwide program that has been around for many years and has been very successful everywhere it has been established. Now the Colleyville Police Department is bringing the idea here to Colleyville. Too
many times the children of a community only see an officer when issuing
a citation to their parents, when something has been stolen from a
residence or some other negative contact. "It is our
anticipation that this program will provide an opportunity for
the children (and Adults) of Colleyville to be able to approach an
officer, ask for a trading card and interact in a positive
atmosphere." stated Officer Bill Hudgins. Office
Hudgins continued, "The acceptance factor at this point of the
program is overwhelming. We did a soft introduction at the NE Mall
Safety Fair on October 27. This soft introduction took off, we
were one of the most frequented booths at the fair, even non-Colleyville
adults and children wanted the cards.”
They continued on Halloween at their Haunted House where the
children received the cards in their goody bags to help get the program
on firm ground. "We feel that this program will have a
positive impact upon the Colleyville community and this department.
The adults of Colleyville, business and residents, are very excited
about the program and have been asking officers for autographed cards.
Grandparents are collecting the cards for their grandchildren.
We are excited." There
are currently 31 different trading cards available (click
here to view). Donations by sponsors; Kroger Co., Guaranty
Bank, Baylor-Grapevine, Sonic-Grapevine/Colleyville, Chase Bank
Colleyville and the Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce covered the
expenses of the program. Thanks to these businesses, the
police department was able to get this program started. There
are still more trading cards needed but the cost is $165 for each
employee. If you are
interested in sponsoring any of these additional cards please email
