911
ANGEL MEMORIAL HEADS TO NEW YORK CITY
| After
the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon,
singer/songwriter, Becky James, and her fiancé, co-songwriter,
John Taylor, were so moved that they rewrote the lyrics to Sarah
McLachlan's 1997 hit, "Angel," as a tribute to the
victims, and to those who lost friends and loved ones on that sad
day.
They
entitled their rendition, "Angel -- September 11, 2001 Memorial
Rendition" (911Angel) and donated a few copies of their newly
recorded version directly to the Fire Department of New York
(FDNY) firehouses, New York Police Department (NYPD) precincts, and Port
Authority Police Department (PAPD) locations that lost members, as well
as to the Pentagon.
After
learning the 911Angel CD was being used as an aid for healing by those
who lost loved ones, Becky and John's initial donation evolved into a
mission to further donate a CD to every member of the FDNY, NYPD, PAPD
and Pentagon, as well as to every family of a 9-11-2001 victim.

So, on
Thursday December 6, 2001 a convoy left for New York City to deliver
there CDs directly to the individuals that were affected. The
convoy included many local Firefighters and volunteers. Along the
way, they will stop in Little Rock, Memphis, Raleigh Durham, Atlanta and
Washington D.C. where firemen in those states and along the way will
join the convoy destined for New York. Marriott is picking up the
room along the way and they can eat at no charge at Bennigans, Steak
& Ale and Ponderosas.
One of
the Greater Southlake Woman's Society members, Patricia Beaver, who is
in charge or their Masterworks Program coordinated the event.
