DO WE HAVE BLACK MOLD AT COLLEYVILLE CITY HALL

Black Mold is Found at City Hall

LNO investigated a lead that Black Mold could be a problem at city hall.  LNO found that while there were significant suspicious areas, no adequate testing had been taken.  After LNO broke the story the Dallas Morning News followed four days later with a similar story. After the story, it was later confirmed that there was Black Mold in the portable buildings.

COLLEYVILLE CITY COUNCIL PASSES CONTROVERSIAL ETHICS RESOLUTION

Almost one year after supporting the election of a new majority on city council, Colleyville's Mayor Donna Arp calls for an Ethics Resolution.  The Ethics Resolution, passed April 17, 2001, established an Ethics Committee to make recommendations. The Resolution was passed only two weeks before the City General Election in May.  The Ethics Committee was not appointed until six months later, only two weeks before the November 6th Special Election.

 CITY FORCES PIONEER FAMILY FROM PROPERTY, THEN LEASES TO DEVELOPER FOR $10

LNO recapped the 1999 events behind the City of Colleyville using the threat of Eminent Domain to force Mr. & Mrs. Couch to sell their commercial property on Hwy 26. Immediately the city council votes to lease to the Developer of the Villages for $10 per month.  The story contains actual letters obtained under the Texas Open Records Act.  Mr. Couch died at the age of 89 on June 29, 2001.

Always in the top ten of Colleyville retail sales tax collectors, Payless Cashways closes its doors.  Vacant building leaves Cheek Sparger/Hwy 26 Intersection with only vacant commercial buildings at the Southern entry to the city.

RICHARD HENDLER PREPARES LAWSUIT OVER DISCREPANCIES IN CITY ELECTION

Election procedures were not properly followed according to the City Secretary.  Hendler's attorney says City of Colleyville is not being cooperative.  Lawsuit is prepared over 1 vote victory of Rice out of over 3,200 votes.  Recount gives Hendler one more vote and Rice two more votes. While procedures remain in question, Hendler says he will not file lawsuit for sake of city harmony.

James Hamilton and Mary Ann Nicholson appointed to the School Board from six applicants.
