Rich Hendler the long term Park Board Chairman was rejected for reappointment to the Parks Board when he only received support from Councilman Richard Newton.  Mr. Hendler lost by a final recount of 2 votes out of over 3,200 for a city council seat against Brad Rice in May 2001.  Mr. Hendler guided the city through the construction of a number of parks in the city including the $5.5 million City Park and Kimzey Park in Ross Downs.
