Colleyville Council Actions June 19, 2001 Meeting BY...Linda Newton All council members were present except Dennis Marlin. Plaques were presented to Mike Taylor for his service on the Colleyville Crime Control and Prevention District Board of Directors (1999 - 2001) and the Colleyville Economic Development Board of Directors (2000 - 2001). Taylor thanked the citizens for their support of the projects initiated by the two boards, specifically the new justice center currently under construction. Jody Short was not present, but will be given a plaque in appreciation for his service on the Colleyville Crime Control and Prevention District Board of Directors. The council rescheduled the first meeting in July from July 3, 2001 to July 2, 2001. A zoning change requested by the city was approved on 3.31 acres located at 5209 Colleyville Boulevard. This land was originally purchased as the site for the new justice center, but when additional land could not be obtained, the site was moved to the Bluebonnet location. The zoning change was to enhance the value of the property as it is re-sold. The change was from CN and AG to CC1 Village Retail. An ordinance amending the Colleyville Development Land Code was tabled after a request by David Bagwell to consider minor modifications to the wording. The change was initiated by the city to clarify the intentions of the code regarding divided entryways to sub divisions. An ordinance amending the Drainage Utility Fund to allow purchase of a street sweeper was approved. An ordinance establishing a Library Board was passed following amendments to add two alternates to the board, and an addition to the duties of the board to include assistance in developing a job description for the first library director. First readings were held for three additional ordinances (no action at this point) dealing with the issuance of a Special Use Permit for an accessory building in the Chelsea Park neighborhood; an amendment to the ordinance approving a contract between the City and the Village at Colleyville for public improvements (action initiated by the City and Texas Department of Transportation); and the first reading of the annual budget for the Colleyville Crime Control and Prevention District. In other action, the council unanimously denied a request by Drs. Alimadad and Alcina Jatoi to move a modular home to their property at 2315 Oak Knoll Drive to be used as a temporary residence during the reconstruction of their primary residence at the same address. A resolution approving funds for the construction of a right turn lane on State Highway 121 at Glade Road was approved in the amount of $80,000. The purchase of the street sweeper referenced earlier was also approved in an amount not to exceed $132,971.69. A resolution appointing the newly created Library Board was approved (see related story). |
