School Board
Selects Superintendent Search Firm
Carroll School
Board members conducted interviews of three different
superintendent search firms Monday, settling eventually on an
Illinois firm that has conducted hundreds of national searches for
education leaders. Trustees voted 5-0 with one abstention to begin
contract negotiations with Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates from
Glenview, Illinois. The firm has handled superintendent searches
in several Texas districts, including Highland Park, Dallas and
most recently, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. The process, presented
similarly by all three firms, involves extensive staff and
community input to develop a candidate's profile, in addition to
advertising, recruitment activities and eventually Board
interviews. Dr. Bill Attea told Trustees he expects the process to
take about 90 days, but stressed the importance of finding the
right applicant that fits Carroll ISD even if it means naming an
interim superintendent until the right candidate is found. Dr.
Attea said his firm will narrow the field of applicants and
present them to the Board for consideration. He suggested 3-5
applicants for Board interviews, but the final decision will come
from the Board. The CISD Board will meet Tuesday, April 16th to
consider a contract agreement with the firm. The meeting will
begin at 6:30 p.m. at the school administration building, 1201 N.
Carroll Avenue. The other two firms interviewed by the Board were
Office of Field Services, Dr. Hoyt Watson and Dr. Bob Griggs; and
Ray & Berndtson, Linus Wright. |
