TXOESR is dedicated to rescuing, fostering, vetting and placing OES's in a "forever home".  Our Rescues come to us from owner turn-in's, shelters, and "Rescue Angel alerts" (non-affiliated every-day people who find an OES stray and contact us).  Each member of TXOESR fosters at home, which we find to be a more personable approach to healing the emotional and physical ailments of each Rescue.  There is an on-line Adoption Application, and we charge an adoption fee.  We do not consider this adoption fee as "buying an OES", but rather a donation to the organization to enable us to fund vet fees for the Rescue babies who had less-than proper care.

STARS, Save The Animals Rescue Society.  We are
non-profit, all-volunteer humane organization.  Unlike the SPCA and various
other groups in north Texas.  We have no paid staff and no facility to
warehouse animals.  All the rescued animals we save go into foster care.

Because of this we ask a donation of $125.00 to adopt a dog and $85.00 to
adopt a cat.  Each animal has all the appropriate inoculations, heartworm
tests, etc.  Every animal is spayed/neutered before it leaves our care.

Last year we rescued over 680 animals. Please go to STARSPETS.com and look at the wonderful animals  up for adoption.

ANGUS & K.C. UPDATE
Many of you are aware of the story but for those of you who are not ...

Angus, a 12-year old lab, and K.C., a 10-year old red heeler mix were surrendered to this SPCA of Texas on July 16th.  This dynamic duo had been together for K.C.'s entire life so we were committed to finding them a "forever" home together.  Angus suffers from severe arthritis and the hard floors at the shelter were not helping matters.  On July 30th an e-Wag Alert was sent to north Texas residents in an effort to find the right person to adopt Angus and K.C.

Shortly after the alert went out it was learned that Angus is believed to have terminal cancer and is not expected to live much longer.  An aggressive tumor was discovered near his right hip.  This news did not deter Angus & K.C.'s special angel, Jan, who decided to adopt them. Angus and K.C. will join Jan, four other dogs and a cat in a home on several acres in Anna, Texas.  Jan is also hopeful that K.C. will bond with her other dogs so that when Angus does pass away she won't be lonesome and depressed.

We're happy to report that Angus and K.C. have made the transition to Jan's house wonderfully! In fact, here are to recent updates from Jan:

"Charla, Angus and KC are doing great.  The initial socialization with Murphy and Skip (aka the Naughty Boys), Cookie, Bailey, and Lance the Cat on Friday went much, much better than I thought.  I was a little apprehensive as to how the NB's were going to take to this, but they met us at the car and everything was just fine.  Angus was a little nervous the first night, didn't eat his dinner, but did spend the late night hours after I had gone to bed to get into things. I got up to a TP'd bathroom, among other things.  He took a new roll off the spindle and shredded it!!  Spindle is ok though.  I think he knows now that he is home and has been a good boy ever since.  We'll see what happens while I'm at work. KC wants to be the alpha dog of the household, so I have to watch her with the NB's as she took them both on in the kitchen Saturday.  No blood spilled!!  I just don't feel all six in the same room now.  Angus and KC dine in the den. They go out with me and the crew to feed the horses and cows twice a day.  Angus stays with me and KC goes off with the others to run in the pasture.  They both come when I call, which is wonderful.  Angus follows me from room to room and stays by the shower until I get out. I took Angus to my vet for a consult Saturday about his tumor.  He did say that surgery was risky -- 50/50 chance of survival -- because the tumor is grapefruit sized and a lot of surrounding tissue would have to be removed and it could damage the muscle in his hind leg and it would be a very long surgery.  He felt the lymph nodes around the area and said they weren't swollen.  He said that he was in great health for a 12 year old lab, except for the tumor.  I didn't like the 50/50 odds, so he will stay on the meds and I will make him as comfortable as I can for his remaining years.  Dr. Bing didn't agree with the 6 month prognosis of your vet.  Yea!"   -- Jan

"All is well with the zoo crew and we have our routine down now.  Angus and KC get sweeter every day.  Angus still doesn't let me out of his sight and requires lots of hugs and kisses, which I am happy to give!!  I believe the Fresh Factors has kicked in and he doesn't have as much trouble getting up and down now.  He has not torn anything up since that first night and they both caught on to the doggie door right away.  They are angels and so are my original crew for being good children and willing to share. Thank everyone for their prayers and kind wishes.  The power of prayer is incredible."  -- Jan

This is truly a heart-warming story, and one to reiterate the SPCA mission and hopes for all animals who need a forever home, however long (or short) forever may be.
