On July 26,2001, at approximately 3:34 am, the Grapevine Fire department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 800 block of Ruth Wall at the Wagon Wheel Ranch equestrian center.  The fire consumed three buildings and resulted in the deaths of eight horses.  The combined value of the horses and the buildings/contents is estimated at $180,000.00.  The equestrian center is reportedly not insured for these losses.

Grapevine Fire Department investigators have determined the fire began in the center compartment of the east barn.  The fire is being ruled as accidental in nature.  The actual ignition source could not be determined due to the large amount of mass destruction caused by the fire.
