City budget sent to City Council: The city's 2001-02 budget has been submitted to the City Council for consideration. The budget maintains the 42.2 cent property tax rate in place since 1995 and increases spending by about $2.4 million (14.4 percent). The proposed budget calls for 31 new employees (both full- and part-time), including 12 firefighters, eight other Public Safety positions and seven staff members to operate the Southlake Tennis Center. Metroport Cities take 1938 plan to Austin: Officials representing the Metroport Cities Partnership will visit the Texas Department of Transportation in Austin on Sept. 26-27 in an effort to secure state funding for the reconstruction of FM 1938 (Randol Mill). An appreciation reception will be held for commissioners the evening of Sept. 26 to thank them for approving funding to reconstruction the "funnel" in Grapevine, where SH 114 and SH 121 merge and move past the north entrance of D/FW International Airport. SPIN schedules public meetings: Southlake Program for the Involvement of Neighborhoods (SPIN) has scheduled three public meetings during the final two weeks of August. 

* Monday, Aug. 20, 7 p.m., DPS Training Room, 667 N. Carroll (Old City Council Chambers) - Neighborhood meeting for SPIN #5 and SPIN #12. Topic: Proposed Phase IV Neighborhood Sewer Project for Hunter's Ridge, Randol Mill Estates, Shadow Creek, and Trail Creek, Phase 1.

* Wednesday, Aug. 22, 7 p.m., Town Hall 3rd Floor Conference Rooms -
Citywide meeting. Topic: Proposed rezoning of city-owned property at the
corner of Person Road and FM 1709.

* Thursday, Aug. 30, 7 p.m., Town Hal 3rd Floor Conference Rooms -
Neighborhood meeting for SPIN #9e and SPIN #9w. Topic: Rezoning and concept
plan for Pecan Acres, east of Villages at Timarron.
