ROAD CONSTRUCTION TO IMPACT MYER'S MEADOW The city will be constructing improvements to the Redwing Drive/Killdeer Trail/Quail Court intersection in Myer's Meadows from Oct. 22 through Nov. 5, weather permitting. During this time, the intersection will be closed to through traffic and there will be no access to the Myer's Meadow subdivision from Peytonville Avenue. Plan to use the entrances off of FM 1709 and Randol Mill. Quail Court will be accessible from the west side of Redwing Drive. For information, call Construction Manager David Fleming at (817) 481-2197. RESIDENTS ENCOURAGE TO PLANT STREET TREES The City of Southlake and Keep Southlake Beautiful are kicking off the city's Street Tree Program, through which residents can purchase trees for half-price if they are then planted in the right-of-way. A total of 40 residents will be able to participate in the program, buying one of four varieties of trees -- Lacebark Elm, Cedar Elm, Bur Oak, and Chinese Pistache. Each is a 2 to 2½ inch caliper tree, and are available through the Street Trees program for just $95 (the city pays the other half of the purchase price). The Street Trees then will be planted on the right-of-way of the property owner by Green Oaks Nursery. For more information, call Community Services Coordinator Emily Galpin at (817) 481-1549. LIBRARY TO HOLD TEEN POETRY NIGHT The Southlake Public Library will observe Teen Read Week with a Teen Poetry Night, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, in Town Hall Conference Room 3D. The event will be set up to resemble a coffee house - including coffee, hot chocolate, soft drinks and snacks provided by the library. Teens are invited to attend and read or listen to published and original poems and short stories. For information, call Youth Services Librarian Amy Priour at (817) 481-5733.
