LIBRARY PLANS GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION

The Southlake Public Library, which opened in September, will hold its official Grand Opening Celebration from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. Activities will be held throughout the day tailored for children, teens and adults. The event also will mark the start of the library's extended, six-day-a-week service hours. CITY TO DEDICATE UNITY OAK TREE

In remembrance of the lives lost and families impacted in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and in support of the heroes that worked tirelessly in their behalf, the Southlake City Council will ceremonially plant and dedicate the Unity Oak Tree in Family Park (Southlake Town Square) at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20. HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION DAY TO BE NOVEMBER 10

The next Household Hazardous Waste collection day in Southlake will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Department of Public Safety, 667 N. Carroll. Proof of Southlake residency is required to participate. For information, call HazMat Coordinator Dale Skinner at (817) 481-2957.

INTERNATIONAL THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION PLANNED

Southlake Sister Cities and the Carroll High School International Club invite Southlake residents and international visitors to an International Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the Senior Activity Center, 307 Parkwood. CITY OFFICES TO CLOSE FOR THANKSGIVING

Most city offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Public safety and other essential functions will remain open. There will be no garbage collection on those days.
