During the July 17th
City Council meeting, Mayor Rick Stacy presented young
Southlakian Madison Manning with a proclamation declaring her a
Hero for her actions on May 18th which saved her
Mother’s life.
The night of May
18th, 8 year old Madison and her brother were
upstairs in their Southlake home when they heard a sudden crash.
They decided to go downstairs to investigate, thinking that it
was just an overturned trash can. The two children came
downstairs to discover their mother who had gone into a seizure
due to high toxicity levels resulting from the recent birth of
her youngest son. Young Madison immediately called her father
who was at a baseball game and told him to come home. Madison
then dialed 911 and calmly told the dispatcher, Deanne Morgan,
what had happened.
At the small
ceremony in Council Chambers, the tape recording of the 911 call
was played as testimony to Miss Manning’s heroism. Mayor Stacy
presented Madison with a plaque and gift basket and commended
her bravery while the 911 dispatchers, paramedics, and her
family proudly stood by her side. Mrs. Manning shed tears of joy
as the Mayor declared Madison Manning Day in the City of
Southlake.
